Expandable sealing mechanism

A sealing assembly has an expansion band having an arcuate band portion and a pair of threaded end portions formed at opposing ends of the arcuate band, in which the arcuate band and threaded end portions are monolithically formed as a single piece. Fixed within respective threaded end portions are a pair of oppositely threaded nuts adapted to receive a bolt having correspondingly oppositely threaded ends. Rotation of the bolt causes the threaded end portions to be simultaneously driven apart or drawn toward one another (depending on the rotation direction of the bolt) to thereby expand or contract the overall outer profile of the arcuate band portion. The monolithically formed expansion band may be made of an inexpensive, non-rusting material such as nylon 66, and glass fibers and/or additives may be employed to impart strength and flexibility.

An electronic device includes a body having a threaded portion configured to co-operate with a threaded portion of a duct in a sleeve in order to move the device into a final position when the device is turned. The electronic device also includes a hole punch configured to form a through orifice in a pipe while the device is being turned and to enable the device to be inserted into the final position. The electronic device further includes an electronic module configured to be in contact with a fluid passing through the pipe when the device is in the final position. In addition, the electronic device includes at least one electrical connection connected to the electronic module and passing through the body leading to a top face of the body. The body and the at least one electrical connection form a plug of the duct in the sleeve.

Use of high speed radio frequency protocols for communication with pipeline pigs and inspection tools

A method and system of high speed radio frequency communication between an outside of a metallic pipeline or vessel and an interior volume contained by the metallic pipeline or vessel includes passing a high speed radio frequency signal through a communication portal having a high speed radio frequency permittive material exposed to the interior volume of the metallic pipeline and to the outside. The high speed radio frequency signal may be transmitted from the interior volume to the outside or from the outside to the interior volume. The communication portal may be a cylindrical- or planar-shaped body connected to the metallic pipeline. A tool located within the interior volume may transmit, receive, or transmit and receive the high speed radio frequency signal. The high speed radio frequency signal may be configured according to a 2.45 GHz standard protocol.

Offset flange and angled shim flowline fittings

Flowline components are assembled into high-pressure fluid transportation systems by a flange union. The flowline component comprises a body defining a substantially cylindrical central conduit. The conduit extends between first and second flat union faces and is adapted to conduct fluids through the body. The union faces are adapted to provide a mating surface for a flange union between the component and another flowline component. Accordingly, the union faces have a plurality of holes adapted to accommodate threaded connectors for forming the flange union. The holes are arranged in a defined array extending angularly around the conduit. Importantly, the array of holes on the first union face and the array of holes on the second union face are offset angularly relative to each other by an angle . It will be appreciated that such components may allow changes in the direction of a flow line.

Heatable line connection device and method for producing such a connection

A multipart heatable media line including at least two sub-media lines, at least one heating element for heating the sub-media lines, at least one line connection device with connection sections for connecting to the sub-media lines, and at least one measuring device. The line connection device has at least one medium channel for conducting the medium through the line connection device from one connection section to the at least one other connection section, and the measuring device including at least one sensor element and is received in a line connection device receiving opening which is designed as a coupling portion. The measuring device includes at least one housing which is designed as a plug connector and which at least partly receives the at least one sensor element, and the at least one heating element of the at least one sub-media line extends in the region of the coupling portion for receiving the measuring device in order to heat the line connection device in the arrangement region of the measuring device.

A gas line cleanout assembly for clearing blockages in gas lines includes a block. A recess, positioned in a bottom of the block, is shaped complementarily to a section of a gas line and is configured to position the block on the gas line. A coupler that is coupled to the block is configured to couple to the gas line to couple the block to the gas line. A first channel is positioned through the block and is configured to align with a tap that is positioned in the gas line. The first channel extends angularly from a top to the bottom of the block. A tube is coupled to and extends transversely from the top of the block. The tube is aligned with the first channel and is configured to insert an object through the first channel and the tap into the gas line to service the gas line.

HYDRAULIC COMPONENT FOR HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS, IN PARTICULAR FOR BRAKING SYSTEMS OR HYDRAULIC CLUTCH DRIVES, IN THE AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR

A hydraulic component for braking systems and/or clutch drives may have at least one connector and an eyelet. The component may also have an inlet plug that brings fluid into the block. The component may also have at least one upper seal interposed between an upper surface of the eyelet and a head of the inlet plug. The component may also have at least one bottom seal interposed between a lower surface of the eyelet and a base of the block. Between at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the eyelet and the corresponding head or base a protuberance is interposed, so that in the absence of the corresponding seal, the protuberance creates an interspace allowing the leakage of fluid.

Hollow polymer micro-truss structures containing pressurized fluids

An ordered, 3-dimensional, micro-scale, open-cellular truss structure including interconnected hollow polymer tubes. The hollow micro-truss structure separates two fluid volumes which can be independently pressurized or depressurized to control flow, or materials properties, or both. Applications for this invention include deployable structures, inflatable structures, flow control, and vented padding.

Gas outlet extender

A gas outlet extender allows for relocation of existing medical gas outlets to positions that are more ergonomic to care-givers at the point-of-use. In various aspects, the gas outlet extender may take one source of gas supply and provide the facility with a plurality of separate sources of that gas supply. By taking measurements of various parameters of the gas supply, an installer may obtain confidence that the gas flow for each of the plurality of separate sources meets regulatory requirements.
