Unique insulation articles including corrosion inhibitors and methods of producing the same are disclosed. One exemplary embodiment is an article of manufacture comprising an insulation mat comprising a cured combination of a plurality of randomly oriented fibers and a binder, the insulation mat extending between a first surface and a second surface, a veil attached to the first surface, the veil structured to inhibit physical movement of the cured combination through the veil, a metal sheet attached to the second surface by a water-containing adhesive contacting the metal sheet and the second surface, and a corrosion inhibitor composition deposited on the cured combination of the insulation mat, the corrosion inhibitor composition being effective to modify toward neutral a pH of the cured combination in contact with water from the water-containing adhesive.

The method includes determining a first value of a physical property in the cavity, experiencing a failure of the conduit wall, determining a second value of the physical property in the cavity, and detecting a difference between the first and second values.

A method for manufacturing a composite tube having at least one double-layered portion with an annular outer layer of a first alloy and an annular inner layer of a second alloy, comprising: providing a base component (301) of the second alloy, having a central through-hole and an externally threaded section (302), providing an outer component (401) of the first alloy, having an internally threaded section (402) configured to engage with the externally threaded section, forming a tubular work piece by mounting the outer component around the base component such that the internally threaded section is in engagement with the externally threaded section, hot working the work piece so that a metallic bond is formed between the threaded sections while the mechanical interlock is maintained, and so that the work piece is elongated and its outer diameter is reduced, thus forming a composite tube.

A method for inhibiting corrosion in pipelines for transporting oil and gas is described. A nano-machine is fed along with an inert gas to the pipeline to deliver a corrosion inhibitor which is chemically bonded to the nano-machine. The nano-machine is made by attaching a corrosion inhibitor to a nanoparticle by way of a covalent bond. When the nano-machine encounters a source of corrosion in the pipeline, the corrosion inhibitor is released to treat the corrosion.
