A system and method of predicting impending failure of a pressure vessel include a pressure vessel, a fluid source, a line coupled to the pressure vessel and to the fluid source, an apparatus, a sensor and a controller. The apparatus includes a conduit and a containment structure. The containment structure includes a cavity separated from an interior of the conduit by a portion of a conduit wall of the conduit. The sensor is configured to determine a value of a physical property in the cavity. The controller is in signal communication with the sensor and configured to detect a change in the value. The method includes determining a first value of a physical property in the cavity, experiencing a failure of the conduit wall, determining a second value of the physical property in the cavity, and detecting a difference between the first and second values.

Helical strakes and collar

A vortex-induced vibration (VIV) suppression system including a strake having a cylindrical body portion dimensioned to encircle an underlying tubular and having opposing ends that form at least one gap extending from a top end to a bottom end of the body portion, a fin portion extending radially outward from the body portion and helically positioned around the body portion, and a connecting member dimensioned to secure the opposing ends of the body portion in a fixed position with respect to one another; and a collar dimensioned to encircle the underlying tubular and position the strake at a fixed axial location along the underlying tubular.

Assisted corrosion and erosion recognition

Systems, methods, and computer readable medium are provided for determining a wall loss measurement associated with corrosion and/or erosion present within an insulated pipe. A inspection image is acquired for a pipe wall of an insulated pipe at a first location and used to determine an inspection thickness of the pipe wall at the first location. An amount of wall loss measurement can be determined based on a difference of a nominal thickness for the pipe wall at the first location and the determined inspection thickness. The wall loss measurement can characterize an amount of wall material lost due to corrosion and/or erosion present in the pipe wall at the first location. The wall loss measurement can be output for further processing and/or display.

System and method for a process to create improved piping to supress the build up of biological organisms

A system and method for a process to prepare piping such that it has a reduced chance of having biological organisms developing or growing within it by the addition of a metal structure to at least a portion of the inner wall of the piping. The system utilizes a limited amount of metal on or close to the inside wall of the piping to retard or suppress the growth of biological organisms within the piping. The limited amount of metal inside the pipe does not materially interfere with the structural aspects or performance of the pipe, nor does it significantly increasing the material costs of the pipe, while providing a unique and novel improved anti-biologic organism performance. The system is suitable for residential or commercial use.

INHIBITION OF BACTERIAL GROWTH IN PIPELINES

Use fresh water or water with sufficiently reduced salinity to trigger burst of bacterial cell wall due to osmotic pressure gradient. Combine the freshwater with conventional biocide treatment and pigging to increase the likelihood of killing the bacteria responsible for reservoir souring.

The present disclosure provides an assembly including a base structure, a pinhole patch and solder. The base structure includes a body that defines a pinhole. The pinhole patch extends at least partially into and at least partially fills the pinhole. An outer surface of the pinhole patch is disposed adjacent and is mechanically joined to a pinhole surface that defines the pinhole. The solder is disposed over at least a portion of the outer surface of the pinhole patch that bonds the pinhole patch at least to the pinhole surface that defines the pinhole. A subassembly is also disclosed. The subassembly includes a pinhole patch and flux.
