ELECTRIC LIGHTING DEVICES
Various embodiments of electric lighting devices and, in particular, electric candles are described. The devices can include a flame element onto which light can be projected from a light source. Preferably, the light is projected within a focal area on the flame element. The housing of the devices can include projections that help maintain a vertical position of a circuit board within the housing.
RECYCLING LIGHT SYSTEM USING TOTAL INTERNAL REFLECTION TO INCREASE BRIGHTNESS OF A LIGHT SOURCE
A light-recycling light system (LRLS) that, in some embodiments, uses a transparent solid body (also called a lens) with some surfaces having total-internal-reflection (TIR) characteristics, optionally having no reflective coatings, making the system easy to make and low cost. In some embodiments, the lens includes an input face, an output face, and a curved (elliptical or parabolic) side surface that exhibits TIR, wherein the curved side surface defines a first focus at the input face and a second focus at the output face, so recirculating light entering at the first focus and reflecting at one side of the curved surface by TIR toward the second focus, hen reflects at the second focus toward the opposite side of the curved surface, and then reflects at the second side of the curved side surface by TIR toward the first focus. A light source emits light at the first focus.
ENERGY MANAGEMENT OF A PORTABLE SOLAR LIGHTING TOWER
A method and apparatus for the energy management of a portable solar lighting tower is disclosed. The portable solar lighting tower may have multiple modes and functions to adjust the power of the light and adapt the demanded energy of the lighting tower to overlap with the supply of solar energy during the days. Such modes and functions may easily be set and modified using a control panel on the portable solar lighting tower or on an external computer, such as a computer tablet. Additionally, an energy management graph may be displayed on the control panel accessed via the computer tablet that further allows a user to determine whether there exists enough solar energy for the desired power output of the portable solar lighting tower.
Electronic device for use with deterrent device
An electronic device includes a housing, a finger engagement surface formed in part by first and second contact members associated with the housing, and a control system. The first contact member, the second contact member, and the finger engagement surface are configured so that a finger received by the finger engagement surface can be urged against one or more parts of the finger engagement surface to move the first contact member and/or the second contact member.
