A lighting system comprises at least one excitation source (5), preferably an LED, operable to generate and radiate excitation radiation of a first wavelength (λ.sub.1); a shade (4) configured to at least in part surround the at least one source (5) and remotely located thereto; and at least one phosphor (16) provided in or on at least a part of the shade (4), wherein the phosphor (16) emits radiation of a different wavelength in response to incident excitation radiation. The phosphor can be provided on a part of an outer or inner surface of the shade. Alternatively, or in addition, the phosphor is incorporated within the shade. The lighting system finds particular application as a hanging, a desk, a floor standing, a wall mountable, a spot, an outdoor or an accent lighting fixture.

Luminaires, systems and methods for providing spectrally and spatially modulated illumination

Embodiments include a lighting device that includes a first illumination source comprising a light-emitting diode (LED) of a first color that generates a first light output with a first melanopic ratio of 0.4 to 1.2, and a second illumination source comprising an LED of a second color that generates a second light output with a second melanopic ratio that is less than the first melanopic ratio. The lighting device also includes a light distribution unit for directing and distributing illumination generated by the first and second illumination sources, where at least one of the first illumination source and the second illumination source is affixed to the light distribution unit, and where the first and second illumination sources are oriented relative to one another such that their respective light outputs are directed in different directions.

Flat lighting device

The present invention relates to a lighting device (11) comprising a light emitting portion with at least two solid state light sources, SSL (18). The light emitting portion includes a first cover member (12a) with a first light source carrier (13a) and a first light transmitting portion (14), a second cover member (12b) with a second light source carrier (13b) and a second light transmitting portion (14). The first and second cover member are arranged such that a first light transmitting portion is aligned with the second SSL to allow transmission of light emitted from the second SSL through the first cover member, and a second light transmitting portion is aligned with the first SSL to allow transmission of light emitted from the first SSL through the second cover member. According to this design, light emitted from an SSL on one cover member will be transmitted through the other cover member. Dissipation of heat from each SSL may be provided in the other direction, i.e. in a direction opposite to the light emitting direction of each SSL.

Provided are an optical member capable of implementing optical images having desired shapes through a pattern design, and a lighting device using the optical member, the optical member including: a base substrate; multiple patterns sequentially arranged on a first surface of the base substrate and having inclined surfaces with an inclination angle with respect to the first surfaces; and a reflective portion on the base substrate or the multiple patterns, wherein the multiple patterns implement a line shaped beam of a first path crossing at right angles to respective pattern extension directions of the multiple patterns by guiding a first incident beam into a first surface direction toward which the first surface looks or a second surface direction toward which a second surface of the base substrate opposite to the first surface looks, through refraction or reflection from the inclined surfaces.

Multiple panel troffer-style fixture

Lighting fixtures are described utilizing a plurality of light sources, or light engines, which are mounted together in a modular fashion in the light fixture opening. In some embodiments, the plurality of light sources can comprise lighting panels that together form the overall fixture light source. The present invention is particularly applicable to troffer-style lighting fixtures that can be arranged with a plurality of lighting panels arranged in the troffer opening to illuminate the space below the troffer. Embodiments of the present invention can also utilize solid state light sources for the lighting panels, with some embodiments utilizing light emitting diodes (LEDs).

A vehicle lighting unit can include a first LED and a second LED each having a different color; a first light guiding lens and a second light guiding lens disposed in front of the first and second LEDs, respectively, configured to guide light rays from the first and second LED, respectively, to cause the light rays to exit therethrough forward; and a diffusion lens disposed in front of the first and second light guiding lenses, configured to diffuse the light rays from the first and second light guiding lenses. The light exiting faces of the first and second light guiding lenses can be configured to be long and adjacent to each other in the vertical direction with the lengthwise directions coincide with each other. The diffusion lens can have a long shape so as to cover the entire front light exiting faces of the first and second light guiding lenses.

LED lighting device

A light-emitting diode (“LED”) based lighting fixture is provided. The LED based lighting fixture includes at least one reflector having a reflective enhancing material to reflect light and at least one frame are attached on a top surface of at least one housing. Further, one or more LED module mounted on a top surface of the at least one frame to emit light, the at least one frame oriented at an angle in a range of 10° to 45° degrees or approximately 30° degrees extending from a plane perpendicular to a plane of the top surface of the at least one housing. Finally, at least one lens such as a frost lens or a translucent lens can be positioned approximate to a bottom surface of the at least one housing for reflective light to emit there through.

According to one aspect, an LED package comprises a plurality of LEDs and a primary optic disposed adjacent the LEDs wherein the primary optic includes protrusions for mixing light developed by the plurality of LEDs.

Twist and lock glass shade mounting system and method of assembly

Devices, systems and methods of converting the necks on lamp shades into threadable couplers that allow the shades with the couplers to be screwed onto the exterior threads on light sockets, such as those types of sockets found on wall mounted and ceiling mounted candelabras and ceiling fans. The couplers can include plate members that are fastened in a sandwich configuration on both the inside and outside of the neck portion of the shade with the sandwiched plate members having an interior threaded surface. Modified lamp shades can be screwed to exterior threaded light sockets on candelabra lights, pendant lights, ceiling fan lights, and any other type of lamp sockets that have removable lamp shades.
