A lighting structure for a ceiling fan includes a substrate. The substrate has a top surface and a bottom surface. At least a lamp is disposed on the bottom surface. A plurality of fins and an upright wall are disposed on the top surface. The upright wall extends upward and extends around an enclosure to form therein a receiving chamber for receiving a ceiling fan control device. A first connection portion is disposed near the top end of the upright wall and connected to the ceiling fan.

A debris shield for preventing debris from entering a light fixture device during a construction process while allowing the light fixture device to be used to illuminate an area where the construction process is taking place includes a transparent or translucent body and at least one projection arranged on or associated with the body for removably retaining the debris shield to the light fixture device. The debris shield can be removed from the trim ring after the construction process is completed by puncturing a closure covering an opening in the body of the debris shield and grasping the opening to pull the debris shield from the trim ring. Alternatively, the debris shield can be removed from the trim ring after the construction process is completed by grasping a pull tab on the body of the debris shield and using the pull tab to pull the debris shield from the trim ring.

A solid state floor lighting unit comprises a printed circuit board carrying an array of solid state lighting elements and a protective cover. The cover has openings or other light output regions aligned with the solid state lighting elements to provide light output. The protective cover has at least one edge with downwardly projecting spaced supporting tabs. These tabs form a comb structure which enables adjacent units to be interlinked. In this way a reduced pitch between lighting elements across the join between units is made possible, but the protective cover still provides the required stiffness and robustness to carry heavy loads.

A solid state floor lighting unit comprises a printed circuit board carrying an array of solid state lighting elements and a protective cover. The cover has openings or other light output regions aligned with the solid state lighting elements to provide light output. The protective cover has at least one edge with downwardly projecting spaced supporting tabs. These tabs form a comb structure which enables adjacent units to be interlinked. In this way a reduced pitch between lighting elements across the join between units is made possible, but the protective cover still provides the required stiffness and robustness to carry heavy loads.

A shield for a bulb of a lighting base includes an upper portion for at least partially encircling a bulb and means for coupling the upper portion to a lighting base. Another shield includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion at least partially encircles and protects a bulb such that if a lighting base, a bulb and the shield are dropped on a surface, a bulb cannot come into contact with a surface. The second portion is for coupling the shield to a lighting base. The first portion has a length and at least one side of the first portion, as defined along the length of the first portion, is open to the bulb.

A shield for a bulb of a lighting base includes an upper portion for at least partially encircling a bulb and means for coupling the upper portion to a lighting base. Another shield includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion at least partially encircles and protects a bulb such that if a lighting base, a bulb and the shield are dropped on a surface, a bulb cannot come into contact with a surface. The second portion is for coupling the shield to a lighting base. The first portion has a length and at least one side of the first portion, as defined along the length of the first portion, is open to the bulb.

A light source unit includes a light emitting element which functions as a light source, a wiring pattern on which the light emitting element is mounted, an electrode pad connected to the wiring pattern, a substrate on which the wiring pattern is formed and the electrode pad is mounted, a power supply body which supplies external power to the electrode pad, and a socket housing which has an engaging portion engaged with a predetermined member and holds the substrate, the light emitting element and the power supply body. The power supply body has a terminal holding portion formed of an insulating resin material and a connection terminal supported by the terminal holding portion and connected to an external power supply. The connection terminal and the electrode pad are connected to each other by a conduction connecting part.

There is an end cap coupled with the main housing in a manner to form a lens cavity proximate a forward end of the illumination module. There is a sacrificial lens disposed in the lens cavity. The sacrificial lens includes a removable layer.
