An accent lamp (10) having a solid state light source (4), such as LEDs, is attachable to a rear surface of an automotive headlamp (40) opposite the light-generating capsule (44). Accent lamp (10) has first retaining member (20), such as a clamp, formed above printed circuit board (8) on which LED (4) is mounted. Headlamp base (60) defines light passageway (45), formed as a light guide (42), extending from outermost peripheral surface (63) to an upper surface (61) on which lamp capsule (44) is retained. Accent lamp (10) is readily detachably mounted to headlamp (40), preferably by resilient first and second retaining members (20, 24), and, when mounted, can be biased to promote optical coupling of light source (4) to light guide (42).

Automotive light-emitting diode (LED) headlight structure

An automotive light-emitting diode (LED) headlight structure includes a housing, where one end of the housing is provided with a straight section corresponding to lamp beads on a substrate; a middle part of the housing is provided with a heat dissipation slot; a heat sink for heat conduction is provided in the heat dissipation slot; one end of the housing connected to an adapter has a diameter greater than diameters at the middle part and the other end of the housing, and is provided therein with a cooling fan; and the adapter is provided with a ventilation hole for allowing the cooling air generated by the cooling fan to dissipate heat from all components in sequence. The automotive LED headlight structure greatly improves the utilization and heat dissipation efficiency of the cooling air, and appropriately reduces the volume of the heat sink and the cooling fan.

A light module comprises at least one light source, a light source support, and an optical element suitable for receiving rays emitted by the light source.

According to the invention, the optical element comprises means for positioning said optical element in a predefined position on the support and elastic attachment means for attaching said optical element in the predefined position on the support.

Vehicle headlight system with adaptive light distribution

An adaptive headlight system for a vehicle uses an adaptive headlight controller which controls one or more headlights so as to illuminate a scene visible to a vehicle driver. The controller causes the headlights to generate a frame-region within the scene which outlines an object detected by an object-detection system carried by the vehicle. The frame-region is illuminated at a reduced level relative to the areas of the scene inside and outside the frame-region, thereby creating a dark/light contrast, visible to the driver, between the frame-region and the scene. If the object-detecting system indicates that the object is a living being, the frame-region is located to cover a head of the living being so as to avoid visually dazzling the being.
