The luminous device comprises at least one light source for producing a light beam associated with a photometric function. Further, the at least one light source is encapsulated within an encapsulating material. The luminous device further comprises at least one optical element configured to produce said photometric function, wherein the at least one optical element is arranged juxtapose with said encapsulated light source and is configured to receive said light beam to perform at least one said photometric function of the luminance device.

Light veil

A method of making a fascia for an automobile includes providing an article, the article being one of translucent or transparent and applying a deposited pattern onto at least a first portion of a first side of the article. The method further includes forming the article into a shape, the shape being configured to be consonant with a vehicle exterior configuration. A fascia system includes a transparent member mounted on a vehicle, the member having printed matter on one side, and the member being included into a vehicle exterior design. Additionally, the member is oriented in front of an illumination device and is illuminated by the device.

PHOTOLUMINESCENT VEHICLE APPLIQUES

A vehicle applique is provided that includes a decorative layer and an over-mold positioned over the decorative layer. The over-mold is substantially transparent. A light conversion layer is positioned on an opposite side of the decorative layer from the over-mold and configured to convert ambient illumination. A reflective layer is configured to convert ambient illumination. A reflective layer is configured to reflect light into the light conversion layer.

PHOTOLUMINESCENT EMISSION SYSTEM

A vehicle emissions system is provided that includes a tail pipe configured to emit a first emission, a heat shield positioned proximate the tail pipe having a shield substrate. A semiconductor layer is positioned on the shield substrate and configured to convert the first emission into a second emission. An overmold is positioned over the semiconductor layer.

A decorative automotive component includes a structure having a textured surface with a plurality of light-reflecting facets. The textured surface is selectively metallized, such as via electroplating, such that a plurality of openings are defined through the metal material and which expose the underlying substrate. A first light source, hidden from view, is disposed above the textured surface and directs light onto the reflective textured surface, such that light is reflected outwardly therefrom. A second light source is disposed within the structure and below the substrate, and directs light through substrate and directly into and through openings, such that the openings are illuminated and visible. The light sources can be activated individually or at the same time to combine the lighting effect.

DISPLAY DEVICE

A display device includes a light-transmitting portion, a display light source arranged at an inner side of the light-transmitting portion, and a housing including an opening. The housing accommodates the display light source and the light-transmitting portion is arranged in the opening. The light-transmitting portion includes a transparent plastic base member, a first color exhibiting layer containing dye or pigment, and a second color exhibiting layer containing a filler made of a cold mirror thin film. The first color exhibiting layer has a transmittance of 20% or more for light having a specific wavelength. The second color exhibiting layer has a reflectance of 80% or less for light having a wavelength not absorbed by the dye or the pigment of the first color exhibiting layer and a transmittance of 60% or more for light having a wavelength absorbed by the dye or the pigment of the first color exhibiting layer.
