The lens holder (16) and the cassette (2) may rotate together. The lens holder (16) may be arranged to rotate relative to the cassette (2). An arm (42) may be provided extending through a slot (44) in the cassette (2) and engageable by a fitter to align the predetermined light pattern relative a passenger space.

The light sources are bundled or collimated such that they each emit light in differently directed light cones with adjacent light cones overlapping. The lighting device has an adjusting device for adjustment of the direction of illumination and an actuating circuit connected to the adjusting device. The adjusting device adjusts intermediate stages for which the light-emitting diodes of adjacent and overlapping light cones operate and with varying light intensity in such a way the focal point of the light field produced by the light-emitting diodes lies between the focal points of adjacent light cones.

A retaining element is configured to attach to the mirror casing at the receiving portion to releasably secure the portable module at the receiving portion.

The motor vehicle has a control device, configured to: determine a direction of the destination in relation to the motor vehicle; select a sub-group of the plurality of lighting segments comprising at least one lighting segment to be activated; and activate the at least one lighting segment belonging to the sub-group according to lighting brightness or lighting color of the at least one lighting segment.

The unit includes one or more direct light emitting elements, wherein each of the direct light emitting elements are configured to illuminate a portion of the interior compartment, and wherein the one or more direct light emitting elements are located on the exterior of the vehicle roof lighting unit. The unit also includes one or more indirect light emitting elements for providing general lighting for the entire interior compartment, wherein the one or more indirect light emitting elements are concealed from view and the light from the one or more indirect light emitting elements reflects off a curved reflective structure. The unit further includes a control panel, wherein the control panel is located on the exterior of the vehicle roof lighting unit.

Light radiating from the light device passes through an opening in the frame. The lamp assembly further includes a lens adapted to be removably connected to the frame of the housing. When connected to the housing, the lens is adapted to refract the light radiating from the light device through the opening in the frame. When the lens is connected to the frame of the housing, a shortest path between the light device and the lens is defined by a z-axis. The lens may include one or more slide components to allow the lens to slide into or onto the frame along an x-axis that is perpendicular to the z-axis.
