A storage solution uses wire shelves where the width of the wire shelves can be customized by a user by adding one or more central members between two end members. The cassette unit includes storage bins and a control bin. The cassette unit contains different size of storage bins and a control bin. The smart locker system further includes a touch screen and authentication devices. In an example implementation, the compact storage rack system includes a track assembly and a movable shelving assembly including a first set of wheels transitionally connected to the track assembly. The first set of wheels can transition along the track assembly between a first position corresponding to a retracted position and a second position corresponding to an extended position.
