A portable camping stove/fire pit has a cylindrical combustion chamber having a bottom member and circularly configured vertical side wall which extends upwardly from the bottom member and terminates in a top edge. The circularly configured side wall has a plurality of spaced apart vertically oriented slots, where each of the slots extends from the exterior of the combustion chamber into the interior. The circularly configured side wall has a plurality of vertically aligned louver members disposed in a spiraling configuration about the combustion chamber, where each louver is disposed tangentially to a respective vertical slot. During combustion within the combustion chamber, a flow of air is drawn past the plurality of vertically aligned louver members, through the slots into the interior, thereby forming a vortex as combustion occurs within the combustion chamber.

VORTEX HYBRID ROCKET MOTOR

Various embodiments of a vortex hybrid motor are described herein. In some embodiments, the vortex hybrid motor may include a combustion zone defined by a fuel core and/or motor housing. The combustion zone may include an upper zone and a central zone that each contribute to thrust created by the vortex hybrid motor. In some embodiments, an injection port configuration is described that includes a proximal injection port that may be controlled for modulating a delivery of an amount of oxidizer for adjusting an oxidizer-to-fuel ratio. In some embodiments, a fuel core configuration is described that provides radially varying gradients of fuel in order to achieve desired thrust profiles. In some embodiments, the fuel core may include a support structure and/or a proximal end of a nozzle of the vortex hybrid motor may extend into the fuel core.

Apparatus and method for improving campfire heat distribution and airflow

An apparatus includes a heat exchange member at least partially defining a passageway, and structure defining a first plurality of holes and a second plurality of holes. The first and second pluralities of holes provide fluid communication from the passageway to the exterior of the apparatus, i.e., to the atmosphere. A blower is operatively connected to the heat exchange member and configured to blow air into the passageway. The apparatus is configured such that, when the heat exchange member is sufficiently positioned with respect to a campfire, air exiting the first plurality of holes is directed downward and away from the campfire and air exiting the second plurality of holes has an upward velocity component.

A biomass or bio-fuel combustion system is provided utilizing oxygen as the source of combustion. The system generally includes a primary combustion chamber defining an internal space for receipt of the biomass and a directional oxygen injector positioned within the combustion chamber and having a plurality of injection nozzles for injecting oxygen into the internal space, preferably at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the combustion chamber. A transfer chamber extends from the primary combustion chamber to a secondary combustion chamber for further combustion of any remaining particulates. A cooling and exhaust system extends from the secondary combustion chamber for drawing off and condensing out any exhaust and moisture contained in the remaining exhaust particulates. A method of burning a biomass of bio-fuel with producing nitrogen dioxide is also disclosed.

OPEN HEARTH FIREPLACE SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A fireplace system having one or more elements that operate to reduce the energy of acoustic signals propagating through the fireplace system before they are broadcast from a firebox of the fireplace system into a room within which the fireplace system is located. In some examples, a powered exhaust evacuation system is coupled to the fireplace system and an acoustic attenuation element of the fireplace system operates to reduce the acoustic signal of the powered exhaust evacuation system as it propagates through the acoustic attenuation element.

Combustion module having substantially uniform temperature

A combustion module including a body in which are formed several combustion chambers extending parallel to each other along a longitudinal direction between a first end face and a second end face of the body in which they emerge, the distance between the combustion chambers and/or the dimensions of the combustion chambers are chosen so as to reduce a temperature gradient transversal to the combustion chambers.
