SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONVERTING CUTTING AND GATHERING SYSTEM OF A CORN HEAD
20180192588 · 2018-07-12 ·

A system for modifying a row unit of a harvesting head, the system including at least one cutting disk, a right angle gear set configured for being drivingly connected to the cutting disk, and a drive shaft between a row unit gear box and the right angle gear set. The system may drive two counter-rotating cutting disks that can be positioned either at near the rear or the front of the row unit. A method for modifying the row unit includes removing existing stalk rolls and housings, installing a cover plate over a gearbox to which the housings were mounted, removing existing trash knives, drilling holes in the row unit frame for mounting the cutting disks, installing the cutting disks.

A system and method for detachably securing an attachment to a zero-turn utility vehicle such as a zero-turn, stand-on mower. The system includes a mounting assembly provided on a hydraulically operated support member on the utility vehicle's frame; and a connector assembly provided on the attachment. The mounting assembly includes a pivotable plate member that is inserted into the complementary shaped connector assembly. The plate member includes a locking rod at an upper end. The connector assembly has side walls and a top wall that surround the plate member when the mounting assembly is engaged with the connector assembly. The top wall overhangs and captures the locking rod between the top wall and a back wall of the attachment. A locking mechanism secures the mounting assembly and connector assembly together. Moving the attachment is accomplished by actuating the hydraulic system on the utility vehicle to move the support member.

A blade assembly for cutting roots is installed on a hand-carried weed cutter or hand-carried sidewalk edger. The blade assembly comprises a rear blade configured to support a plurality of blades on the shaft of the weed cutter. The rear blade has a plurality of teeth disposed around its perimeter, and a central opening configured to be received by the shaft of the weed trimmer. A front blade has a plurality of teeth disposed around its perimeter. Stacks of grinding segments are sandwiched together between the rear blade and the front blade, each stack of grinding segments extending partially around the blade assembly at an angle. Each grinding segment has a plurality of teeth disposed along an outer edge of the grinding segment. Spacers without teeth are adjacent to and separate the stacks of grinding segments from one another. The spacers are also sandwiched between the rear blade and the front blade.

WHEELED STRING TRIMMER MOWER

A trimmer head for a string trimmer mower, including a trimmer head housing having a string retention portion and a coupler portion rotatably attached to the string retention portion, the string retention portion having a first string retainer for releasably retaining a first cutting string. In addition, the string retention portion has a second string retainer for releasably retaining a second cutting string. The second string retainer is preferably circumferentially displaced on the string retention portion from the first string retainer. In a preferred embodiment, the first string retainer has a slidable clamp disposed in the interior and accessible from the exterior. The clamp is constructed and arranged for sliding relative to the base between a clamping position for selectively retaining the string in place through centrifugal force in the string retention portion, and a release position for user replacement of the first cutting string without tools.

MODULAR POWER TOOL

According to examples, a modular power tool may include a motor housing including an electric motor, a drive member connected to the electric motor, the drive member being connected to a drive coupler, an extension pole including an input shaft having a first end connector and a second end connector, in which the first end connector is configured to mate with the drive coupler, and an attachment component having an attachment connector and a working implement, in which the attachment component is configured to mate with either of the drive coupler and the second end connector.

Apparatus for forward mounting attachments to a wheeled vehicle

An apparatus, system and method of securing attachments to a utility vehicle, particularly a stand-on, zero-turn mower. The apparatus includes an A-shaped mounting assembly having a base with first and second ends and a tubular member extending outwardly from the first end. The tubular member defines a bore that receives a shaft extending from the attachment. The mounting assembly is positioned vertically above a mower deck but on an opposite side of the mower frame. The second end of the mounting assembly and part of the mower deck are secured to the frame using the same connectors. A hydraulic actuator engages a forwardmost end of the assembly and is actuatable to raise or lower the assembly relative to the frame, pivoting the assembly about the connectors. The attachment and mower deck are substantially simultaneously operable to perform separate landscaping tasks while the mower moves across a surface.
