Combustion system
A combustion control system that collects and accumulates, at predetermined intervals, combustion controlling information including at least a signal indicating an operating state of an ignition device, a signal indicating the supplying state of fuel to a pilot burner, a signal indicating the supplying state of fuel to a main burner, a signal indicating the supplying state of air to the main burner, a flame detection signal indicating the strengths of the flames of the burners (the pilot burner and the main burner), and information indicating presence or absence of the flames determined based on the value of the flame detection signal, and displays the combustion controlling information as trend data of combustion control in a graph in such a form that the relationship between time zones of the combustion sequences from the start of a combustion device to normal combustion and the trend data is understandable.
PERFORATED FLAME HOLDER SUPPORT STRUCTURE WITH HEATING ELEMENT
In a fuel and oxidant combustion system, a flame holder support structure includes a heating element that receives electrical energy from an electrical power source. The heating element is raised to an auto-ignition temperature of a fuel and oxidant mixture directed, along an axis proximate the flame holder support structure, to a flame holder for combustion thereof.
BURNER WITH VARIABLE PORT AREA
A fuel burner includes a tube extending from a first end to a second end and including a central passage and fluid directing structure for directing a mixture of air and combustible fuel radially through the tube. The fluid directing structure collectively defines a total flow area. A blocking member is axially movable within the central passage between a first condition blocking a first percentage of the total flow area and a second condition blocking a second percentage of the total flow area different from the first percentage to control the flow of the mixture of air and combustible fuel through the fluid directing structure from the first end to the second end of the tube to be ignited.
Fire pit insert assembly
Embodiments of a fire pit insert include a mixing tube with a fuel outlet end, a soundwave input end located below and horizontally offset from the fuel outlet end, and a fuel inlet located between the fuel outlet end and the soundwave input end. A fuel distribution chamber connected to the fuel outlet end has a top plate with orifices, a bottom plate spaced apart from the top plate, and a baffle located between the top and bottom plates. The baffle is arranged coaxial to the fuel outlet end.
STARTUP METHOD AND MECHANISM FOR A BURNER HAVING A PERFORATED FLAME HOLDER
According to an embodiment, a combustion system is provided, which includes a nozzle configured to emit a diverging fuel flow, a flame holder positioned in the path of the fuel flow and that includes a plurality of apertures extending therethrough, and a preheat mechanism configured to heat the flame to a temperature exceeding a startup temperature threshold.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING FURNACE FLOODING
A method includes identifying a first steady-state gain associated with a relationship between a characteristic of a furnace and a setpoint used by a controller that is configured to control the characteristic of the furnace, The first steady-state gain is identified using data collected when the furnace is not suffering from flooding.
The method also includes identifying a second steady-state gain associated with the relationship during operation of the furnace. The method further includes comparing the first and second steady-state gains and identifying actual or potential flooding of the furnace based on the comparison.
CONTROL METHOD FOR THE OPERATION OF A COMBUSTION BOILER
The invention is in the field of boiler control and relates to a control method for the operation of a combustion boiler, comprising providing a predetermined upper limit (VF,max) for the flue gas velocity in at least one location of the boiler, monitoring the flue gas velocity (VF) during the combustion of fuel in said at least one location of the boiler, comparing the flue gas velocity (VF) with the predetermined upper limit (VF,max); decreasing the thermal load of the boiler if the flue gas velocity exceeds the predetermined upper limit (VF,max). The invention also relates to a control system configured to execute the control method.
GAS TURBINE FUEL NOZZLE WITH INTEGRATED FLAME IONIZATION SENSOR AND GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A gas turbine fuel nozzle for a combustor of a gas turbine engine comprises a sleeve with an internal duct for premixed fuel gas flow; it further comprises a flame ionization sensor located on the sleeve externally to the duct; typically, the combustor has a single annular-shaped chamber.
SELECTABLE DILUTION LOW NOx BURNER
A burner supporting primary and secondary combustion reactions may include a primary combustion reaction actuator configured to select a location of the secondary combustion reaction. A burner may include a perforated flame holder structure configured to support a secondary combustion reaction above a partial premixing region. The secondary flame support location may be selected as a function of a turndown parameter. Selection logic may be of arbitrary complexity.
