A method of operating a cooktop appliance includes receiving an input at a user interface of the cooktop appliance and initiating a cooking operation of the cooktop appliance in response to the input. The method further includes determining, after initiating the cooking operation, whether a protected user is present at the cooktop appliance and an authorized user is absent from the cooktop appliance.

An oven appliance includes a cooking chamber, a first heating element thermally coupled to the cooking chamber, a second heating element thermally coupled to the cooking chamber, a temperature sensor in thermal communication with the cooking chamber, and a controller in operative communication with the first heating element, the second heating element, and the temperature sensor. The controller is configured to obtain a chamber temperature using the temperature sensor, determine that heat is needed based on the chamber temperature and a target chamber temperature, operate the first heating element using a closed loop feedback control algorithm, and operate the second heating element using a hysteretic control algorithm.

An oven appliance includes a cooking chamber, a first heating element thermally coupled to the cooking chamber, a second heating element thermally coupled to the cooking chamber, a temperature sensor in thermal communication with the cooking chamber, and a controller in operative communication with the first heating element, the second heating element, and the temperature sensor. The controller is configured to obtain a chamber temperature using the temperature sensor, determine that heat is needed based on the chamber temperature and a target chamber temperature, operate the first heating element using a closed loop feedback control algorithm, and operate the second heating element using a hysteretic control algorithm.

The one or more utility devices is configured to be operable under thermosyphon effect with the water heater. The multi-utility apparatus further includes a thermoelectric generator disposed on the water distiller and the water heater. The thermoelectric generator is configured to generate electricity based on temperature difference between the water distiller or the water heater and its surroundings.
