Faux fireplace with synchronized lighting

A faux fireplace having synchronized lighting. The faux fireplace includes a firebox having a video display generating a colored faux flame at the back of the firebox, a faux ember bed with lighting having user selectable colors along a bottom of the firebox and in front of the video display, and down-lighting generating user selectable colors. A user input allows a user to synchronize the colors of the faux flame, the faux ember bed lighting, and the down-lighting in a setting. The user input allows the user to save a plurality of settings such that the controller generates the synchronized colors upon a single user touch. The firebox has a shallow depth such that it can be mounted in many settings, such as on the ground or inserted in a wall.

The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for providing an electrically operated fireplace that includes a one or more display panels, one or more reflective surfaces inclined at an angle with respect to the one or more display panels to reflect the video images of a flame displayed by the one or more display panels. One or more filters or privacy screens are disposed proximate the one or more display panels. Beneficially, the electrically operated fireplaces disclosed herein do not require the use of moving parts, such as a rotating mirror, to provide the images of the flames. Further, since video images are used to provide the flame effect, the flame effect may be varied simply by loading a new video image into the memory portion of the control circuitry used to provide the flame display.

Heating device with condensing counter-flow heat exchanger and method of operating the same

A method of operating a heating device includes heating air in a heating device chamber. The method further includes exhausting outgoing air from the heating device chamber via a first flow path through which the outgoing air flows in a first direction, and supplying incoming air to the heating device chamber via a second flow path through which the incoming air flows in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The latent heat in the outgoing air in the first flow path is transferred to the incoming air in the second flow path thereby condensing water vapor contained in the outgoing air to produce liquid water.
