Tamper proof thermostat that limits temperature controls
A thermostat includes: a controller adapted to control the function of an associated HVAC system; and user controls adapted to provide instructions to the controller including selecting between heating functions and cooling functions, wherein the controller is limited by a maximum temperature when heating functions are selected and limited by a minimum temperature when the cooling functions are selected, wherein the maximum temperature is a lower temperature than the minimum temperature.
Device with voice command input capabtility
A system including at least one computerized device with voice command capability processed remotely includes a low power processor, executing a loose algorithmic model to recognize a wake word prefix in a voice command, the loose model having a low false rejection rate but suffering a high false acceptance rate, and a second processor which can operate in at least a low power/low clock rate mode and a high power/high clock rate mode. When the first processor determines the presence of the wake word, it causes the second processor to switch to the high power/high clock rate mode and to execute a tight algorithmic model to verify the presence of the wake word. By using the two processors in this manner, the average overall power required by the computerized device is reduced, as is the amount of waste heat generated by the system.
System and method for optimizing energy use of a structure using a clustering-based rule-mining approach
A method of operating a heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a structure, includes collecting first sensor data corresponding to a parameter of the HVAC system, collecting second sensor data that is different than the first sensor data, and generating clustered data by clustering the first sensor data and the second sensor data into a plurality of data clusters with a controller. The method also includes forming a transactional dataset based on at least the first sensor data, the second sensor data, and the clustered data with the controller, performing association rule mining (ARM) on the transactional dataset to generate a plurality of rules for each data cluster of the plurality of data clusters with the controller, and changing an operating characteristic of the HVAC system based on the plurality of rules with the controller to optimize the parameter.
Systems, methods, and an apparatus for controlling a sleep environment and waking a sleeping person
This invention relates to a systems, methods and apparatuses for controlling a sleep environment, particularly for controlling an indoor sleep environment, and to a method and system of waking a sleeping person. The invention monitors one or both of wet-bulb globe temperatures (WBGTs) within the sleep environment and outdoors with a view to either altering the WBGT within the sleep environment to mimic a nadir or inflection point typically found outdoors and/or generate an alarm when a nadir or inflection point of the WBGT outdoors is determined.
Refrigerant detection and control of HVAC system
A heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a heat exchanger configured to exchange heat between a refrigerant and an air flow, a blower configured to induce the air flow across the heat exchanger, and a control board configured to receive an input indicative of a presence of refrigerant external to the heat exchanger and adjust operation of the blower based on the input.
Parameter estimation apparatus, air-conditioning system evaluation apparatus, parameter estimation method, and non-transitory computer readable medium
A parameter estimation apparatus of an embodiment of the present invention is provided with a model reduction processor and a parameter estimator. The model reduction processor generates reduced order models by reducing order of a simulation model on the basis of measurement data sets and conditions for model order reduction possibility. The parameter estimator estimates values of parameters of the reduced order models on the basis of the reduced order models and the measurement data sets corresponding to the reduced order models. Further, after estimating a first value for a first parameter of a first reduced order model based on a first measurement data set, the parameter estimator applies the first value to the first parameter of a second reduced order model based on a second measurement data set.
Demand/response mechanism in a wireless sensor network
A wireless sensor network at a monitored location can be configured to generate sensor channel(s) of data to assess operational conditions at the monitored location. Inputs based on the sensor channel(s) of data are provided to a host system for analysis of a demand to one or more resources at the monitored location. Response messages can be generated based on the demand analysis and transmitted to actuator(s) at the monitored location to effect an adjustment to the operational conditions.
Building management system with automatic remote server query for hands free commissioning and configuration
A building management system that includes a plurality of slave devices, a remote server comprising a slave device configuration database, and a master controller. The master controller is configured to receive slave device configuration information stored in the slave device configuration database. The slave device configuration information includes at least one of cooling tower configuration parameters, chilled water pump configuration parameters, condenser water pump configuration parameters, air handling unit configuration parameters, rooftop air handling unit configuration parameters, variable air volume unit configuration parameters, chiller device configuration parameters, a rated device capacity, a rated device power, and a rated device speed. The master controller is further configured to control the plurality of slave devices using the slave device configuration information.
