The basket is configured to receive an infant carrier or to directly support a seated infant. The basket includes a bottom wall, a first end wall, a pair of sidewalls, a second end wall, a crotch panel and a back support panel. The crotch panel and the back support panel are located in the basket between the first and second end walls. Each is configured to be pivoted from a stowed position, when the device is holding an infant carrier, to an operative position when the device is directly supporting the infant. In the operative position the infant's back will rest against the back support panel and his/her legs will extend through opening in the crotch panel and a window in the first end wall.
