ICE MACHINE MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHODS
20250027847 · 2025-01-23 ·

An ice machine monitoring system for monitoring and sensing of internal and external metrics in ice machines and reporting these metrics to a computing device. This captured data helps customers, technicians, and manufacturers to monitor issues such as ambient air temp, incoming water temp, incoming water flow, compressor surface temp, liquid line pressure, and suction line pressure. A sensor control receives data from a variety of sensors placed about the ice machine. The data is wirelessly transmitted to a cloud platform and through a communication platform is displayed on a computing device. In many cases, this provides a means for remote diagnosis of ice machine malfunctions. The ice machine monitoring system can be offered as an ice machine system retrofit kit for converting a standard ice machine to one having an ice machine monitoring system.

In a refrigerator, a cam of a cam gear rotating by a driving motor is provided with a structure protruding from an edge portion of a cam gear to a center, thereby increasing the thickness of a cam surface. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the magnitude of force directly transferred from the cam gear to a magnet lever.

A system for producing clear ice uses sensor data on a freezing chamber condition to optimize production of clear ice. The sensor data provides information such as a clearness degree of ice, a freezing chamber temperature, and an ice maker temperature. The freezing chamber condition is predicated using the received sensor data. The freezing chamber condition is adjusted according to the received sensor data and the predicted freezing chamber condition.

Ice maker and system and method for monitoring water filter of the ice maker

In an ice maker, a controller is operatively connected to the ice maker's water system to determine a parameter indicative of a total amount of water filtered by a replaceable filter cartridge. Based on the determined parameter, the controller can provide a numerical indication of the total amount of water filtered by the replaceable filter cartridge. Based on the determined parameter, the controller can determine that the replaceable filter cartridge requires replacement. The parameter can be determined based on the amount of time a water inlet valve is opened and/or a water pressure signal. The controller can take action when it determines that the water filter needs replacement, for example, by making a local alarm indication, pushing a remote notification, or making an automated purchase transaction for a new filter cartridge.

Systems and methods for detecting failure modes of an ice maker appliance

A method for operating an ice maker appliance includes a step of directing a fill of liquid water to compartments of an ice tray. The method also includes a step of operating a harvest mechanism to harvest ice pieces formed within the compartments of the ice tray. The method may further include a step of sensing, with a sensor assembly, conditions of an ice storage bin. The method may also include a step of determining, based on the sensed conditions of the ice storage bin, an amount of ice pieces harvested from the ice tray. The method may further include a step of detecting, based on the determined amount of ice pieces harvested, a failure mode of the ice tray.

METHOD OF OPERATING AN ICEMAKER OF A REFRIGERATOR APPLIANCE

A refrigerator appliance includes an icemaker mounted to a door within a chilled chamber, a sealed system for regulating a chamber temperature within the chilled chamber, an ambient humidity sensor, and a controller in operative communication with the icemaker, the sealed system, and the ambient humidity sensor. The controller is configured to obtain an ambient humidity using the ambient humidity sensor, determine, based on the ambient humidity, a dewpoint temperature where sweat will be produced on an outer surface of the refrigerator appliance, determine a target temperature that maintains an outer surface temperature to equal or greater than the dewpoint temperature, operate the sealed system to regulate the chamber temperature to the target temperature, and operate the icemaker to produce ice at an increased icemaking rate.

ICE-MAKING CONTROL METHOD

The present invention relates to an ice-making control method. An ice-making control method according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: flowing refrigerant in an evaporator having multiple ice-making fingers spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction to start ice-making at the ice-making fingers; obtaining temperature information at the end portion of the evaporator at a first extension determination time point after the starting of ice making; determining whether to extend a set ice-making time on the basis of the temperature information at the end portion; and when it is determined to extend the ice-making time, extending the ice-making time by a first extension time and making ice for the extended ice-making time. Therefore, the present invention can provide uniform-sized ice even when there is a significant difference in cooling time between the start and end portions of the evaporator.
