A semiconductor wafer held by a holder within a chamber is irradiated and heated with halogen light emitted from multiple halogen lamps. A cylindrical louver made of opaque quartz and a light-shielding member of a ring shape having a cut-out portion are provided between the halogen lamps and the semiconductor wafer. When the semiconductor wafer is heated with the light emitted from the halogen lamps, a shadow region will appear in the semiconductor wafer as a result of the louver blocking off the emitted light. However, in the presence of the cut-out portion of the light-shielding member, the light emitted from the halogen lamps will reach the shadow region through the cut-out portion. This configuration allows the shadow region to be heated in the same manner as the other regions, and accordingly will help make uniform the in-plane temperature distribution of the semiconductor wafer during light irradiation heating.

Non-thermal drying systems and methods using vacuum throttle flash generators and processing vessels
10240865 · 2019-03-26 · ·

A system is disclosed for drying a material to liberate a substance such as a liquid having a vapor pressure from solids and/or dissolved substances in the material. The system includes a plenum chamber and a blower providing a stream of air to the plenum chamber. An outlet communicates with the plenum chamber and a velocity accelerator is disposed downstream of the outlet. The velocity accelerator is arranged to receive air from the outlet of the plenum chamber into a progressively narrowing interior passageway terminating at a downstream choke point orifice. The choke point orifice discharges into a larger diameter discharge region. A throttle body is disposed in the discharge region and is selectively movable toward and away from the choke point orifice to decrease or increase the volume of the discharge region. A passageway is formed through the throttle body for receiving flashed material from the discharge region and conveying the material in a downstream direction. Also disclosed is a system for drying materials contained within a processing vessel wherein flash generators with vacuum throttles are used to maintain drying conditions within the vessel and to remove liberated substance from the processing vessel.

Coating and curing drying system

A drying system for drying a coating applied to an article of manufacture. The drying system includes an enclosable booth having an interior for housing the article of manufacture. The system also includes an air source for blowing air into the booth, means for raising the temperature of the air before entry into the booth, means for lowering the temperature of the air before entry into the booth, means for raising the humidity of the air before entry into the booth, and means for lowering the humidity of the air before entry into the booth. In one embodiment there is included at least one distribution cone which includes a conical member having a plurality of openings formed along the axis thereof. The cones emit air across an article of manufacture within the booth. During the drying process, both the temperature and the humidity within the booth is raised to accelerate drying.

Engineered timber products, components and methodologies

A method of drying sticks, a related apparatus, resultant product and its uses where the method involves presenting a plurality of sticks in parallel as a single layer, pressing each stick with a bank of pressing members on and/or into at least one face of the sticks, each with plurality of protuberances, thereby to constrain the sticks against crook, and drying the sticks when so constrained. Preferably each bank of pressing members is an underside of a frame or lattice of a stack of such frames or lattices able to receive such a single layer of sticks between adjacent overlying/underlying frames or lattices, the protuberances preferably being only downwardly directed.
