A common method of condensing vapors is to use evaporative condensers that combine the functions of a shell and tube water cooled condenser and a cooling tower into a single unit. This arrangement saves space and eliminates condenser water piping and pumps. They work by spraying water on a horizontal tube bundle and drawing air through it to cool and condense the vapor inside the tubes into liquid. My invention envisages the vapor to be in the shell and air or a mixture of air and water flowing inside the tubes. It works in several different modes, by selectively using the attached modules. This innovative arrangement saves water and energy, while maintaining high thermal efficiency.

A heating jacket surrounds the separator column, wherein the heating jacket heats the falling film to evaporate at least one portion of the falling film and leaves a concentrate. A concentrate collection vessel receives the concentrate from the separator column.

PASSIVE CONTAINMENT COOLING SYSTEM INCLUDING MULTIPLE CONDENSING STAGES AND CATALYST, AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME

A PCCS condenser may include a first and a second stage condenser. Each of the first and second stage condensers may include channels in fluid communication between an inlet and an outlet header. The inlet header of the first stage condenser may be configured to receive a fluid mixture through a first inlet opening. The channels may be configured to condense water from the fluid mixture flowing through the channels from the inlet header to the outlet header, respectively, of the first and second stage condenser. The PCCS condenser may include a catalyst in at least one of the outlet header of the first stage condenser or the inlet header of the second stage condenser. The catalyst may catalyze a reaction for forming water from hydrogen and oxygen in the fluid mixture. The outlet header of the second stage condenser may be in fluid communication with a combined vent-and-drain line.

A PCCS condenser may include a first and a second stage condenser. Each of the first and second stage condensers may include channels in fluid communication between an inlet and an outlet header. The inlet header of the first stage condenser may be configured to receive a fluid mixture through a first inlet opening. The channels may be configured to condense water from the fluid mixture flowing through the channels from the inlet header to the outlet header, respectively, of the first and second stage condenser. The PCCS condenser may include a catalyst in at least one of the outlet header of the first stage condenser or the inlet header of the second stage condenser. A strong cooling direct air-cooled condenser radiating unit and an air-cooled island are provided, comprises a cooling wall, an air supply device and a flow guide device located in the cooling wall. The air supply device comprises a unit air supply channel, an air supply ring, and an air collecting cavity. The air supply ring is located at the lower part of the cooling wall and is an annular body with a cavity. An annular slit outlet is formed in the lower part of the air supply ring. The upper part of the air collecting cavity communicates with the air supply ring. A separating plate is provided in the unit air supply channel and divides the unit air supply channel into upper and lower air flues. The upper air flue communicates with the cavity of the air supply ring. The lower air flue communicates with the air collecting cavity.

Four primary condensers are arranged such that the tubes are horizontal, while the inlet steam manifolds at one end of the tubes are perpendicular to the primary condenser tubes, i.e., parallel to the transverse axis of the bundle. Steam enters the small inlet steam manifolds from below. Cross-sectional dimensions of the tubes are 200 mm wide with a cross-section height of less than 10 mm with fins that are 10 mm in height, arranged at 9 to 12 fins per inch.
