The thermal insert is configured to be heated and/or cooled. The thermal insert is removably positioned in the pocket of the first portion such that the thermal insert can transfer heat to or from the animal when received by the opening and when heated and/or cooled.

Two phase exothermic cooling

A method of cooling a battery cell includes: atomizing a cooling fluid by driving it through a micro-nozzle at a pressure sufficient to create a jet of aerosolized liquid droplets while retaining sufficient momentum in flow of the fluid to travel from the nozzle to an outer surface of the battery cell; impinging the spray of the jet of aerosolized liquid droplets on an outer surface of the battery cell; partially evaporating the liquid droplets on the outer surface to conduct heat from the outer surface; and convecting heat from the outer surface of the battery via the cooling fluid.

A heat exchange device includes two end caps each having two openings, a barrel connected to and disposed between the end caps, a heat exchanger disposed in the barrel, a condensing unit and an electric unit mounted respectively to the end caps. The heat exchanger includes two conduit members spaced apart by a gap, a passage unit and a vortex chamber. The condensing unit absorbing and dissipating heat of the fluid. The electric unit is co-movable with at least a portion of one of the conduit members such that a dimension of the gap is adjusted, so as to change the temperature of the fluid flowing out of the device.

Heat transfer devices and methods of cooling heat sources

A heat transfer device includes a storage chamber, a coolant housed within the storage chamber, a cooling chamber, one or more heat transfer components, a fluid passage between the storage chamber and the cooling chamber, and a barrier element. The one or more heat transfer components facilitate heat transfer from a heat source outside of the cooling chamber to the cooling chamber. The barrier element may have (i) a closed configuration, and (ii) an open configuration in which the barrier element is configured to allow the coolant in the storage chamber to flow from the storage chamber into the cooling chamber. The barrier element may reconfigure from the closed configuration to the open configuration in response to a trigger condition, such as the coolant housed within the storage chamber reaching a trigger temperature and/or the initial pressure of the coolant housed within the storage chamber reaching a trigger pressure.

Computer aided measuring system (CAMS) temperature reporters

Examples disclosed herein relate to methods and apparatus for controlling the temperature of large scale structures during manufacturing operations. A structure or surface when measured by Computer Aided Measuring Systems (CAMS) preferably remains a predetermined constant temperature with minimum variance. The manufacturing system includes a first temperature sensor, a second temperature sensor, a plurality of temperature regulation devices, and a processor, all in wireless communication. During performance of a CAMS process on a large scale structure or surface, a recorded temperature value of the structure or surface is communicated. A determination is made based on the recorded temperature value to operate the plurality of temperature regulation devices to control the temperature of targeted areas of the structure or surface. The temperature regulation devices are monitored and controlled such that the structure or surface is stabilized and distortion is prevented during the CAMS process.

MECHANISM FOR VARIABLE THERMAL CONDUCTANCE

A thermal management system for transferring heat to and from a heat source. The system includes a thermal conductor thermally coupled to the heat source, a pressure dependent thermal conductance element thermally coupled to the conductor, and a heat sink thermally coupled to or thermally separable from the thermal conductance element. An actuator is configured relative to the thermal conductor, the thermal conductance element and the heat sink that controls the compression of the thermal conductance element between the thermal conductor and the heat sink so as to control the transfer of heat therebetween. The thermal conductance element can be compressible TIM element, such as a nanowire array, carbon nanotube forest, polymeric gasket, etc.

Thermal recuperation methods, systems, and devices

Thermal recuperation methods, systems, and devices are provided. The methods, systems, and/or devices may provide for: introducing a first fluid into at least a portion of a tank containing a solid; exchanging heat between the solid contained within the tank and the first fluid as the first fluid passes at least around or through the solid; extracting the heated first fluid from at least the portion of the tank containing the solid; and/or passing the heated first fluid with respect to a heat exchanger thermally coupled with a second fluid. The heated first fluid may be cooled as it passes with respect to the heat exchanger and heat may be thermally recuperated between the solid and the second fluid.
