A cooling device for cooling a traction battery of a vehicle by means of a fluid. The device includes an evaporation device for installing in a housing body of the traction body, at least one condensation device for installing on the vehicle outside of the housing body of the traction battery, and connection lines which conduct fluid evaporated in the evaporation device to the at least one condensation device and condensed fluid from the at least one condensation device back to the evaporation device. The evaporation device, the at least one condensation device, and the connection lines form a first cooling circuit. The first cooling circuit is designed in the form of a natural circulation. The circulation of the fluid through the first cooling circuit includes the process of transporting gaseous fluid from the evaporation device to the at least one condensation device and liquid fluid from the at least one condensation device back to the evaporation device, and during operation the circulation is carried out on the basis of a difference in the density of the fluid evaporated in the evaporation device and the fluid condensed in the at least one condensation device and on the basis of a difference in the height of the at least one condensation device and the evaporation device.

Cooling module with leak detector and related systems

In some respects, concepts disclosed herein generally concern systems, methods and components to detect a presence of a liquid externally of a desired primary flow path through a segment of a fluid circuit, e.g., throughout a cooling loop. Some disclosed concepts pertain to systems, methods, and components to direct seepage or leakage of a liquid coolant toward a lead-detection sensor. As but one example, some disclosed liquid-cooled heat exchangers incorporate a leak-detection sensor, which, in turn, can couple with a computing environment that monitors for detected leaks, and, responsive to an indication of a detected leak, invokes a task to control or to mitigate the detected leak.

Method and apparatus for modular air-to-air heat exchanger

A heat exchanger core assembly includes a frame assembly and a plurality of core bundles positioned within the frame assembly. Each core bundle includes at least one row of tubing defining at least one end of the core bundle, an edge seal gasket to seal the core bundle from an adjacently placed core bundle, and an indoor face seal gasket to seal the end with respect to the frame assembly. A method of replacing a core bundle of a heat exchanger core assembly includes identifying a core bundle requiring replacement, removing the core bundle by accessing the core bundle and sliding the core bundle with respect to the remaining plurality of core bundles from the frame assembly, and inserting a replacement core bundle in a space defined by the removed core bundle.

Cold-storage heat exchanger

Provided is a cold-storage heat exchanger. The cold-storage heat exchanger includes a pair of header tanks, and tubes which are arranged in three rows with respect to the direction of the flow of air and connected at opposite sides thereof to the header tanks. A cold-storage medium is stored in the tubes that are disposed in a middle row, and refrigerant circulates through the tubes that are disposed in front and rear rows. Therefore, the cold-storage medium can effectively store cold-energy transferred from the refrigerant. When the engine of a vehicle is stopping, the cold-storage heat exchanger can discharge the cold-energy that has been stored into the passenger compartment of the vehicle, thus preventing the temperature in the passenger compartment from rapidly increasing, thereby creating pleasant air-conditioned conditions for a user, and minimizing the energy and time required to re-cool the passenger compartment.

Coined header for heat exchanger

A header for a heat exchanger includes a header frame defining an opening and including a base portion circumscribing a perimeter thereof. A mounting tab extends from the base portion. The mounting tab is configured to bend inwardly with respect to the header frame. A deformation featured is formed on one of an inner surface and an outer surface of the header frame and is configured to facilitate bending of the mounting tab.
