HEAT EXCHANGER CORE
A heat exchanger core includes a core formed such that a pair of adjacent passages are folded on top of one another while being adjacent. At least one passage of the pair of adjacent passages has a pair of adjacent passage portions between which the other passage is not interposed in a direction in which the passages lie on top of one another. The core has a heat insulation layer between the pair of passage portions.
PHASE CHANGE MATERIAL (PCM)-BASED CONDUCTIVE THERMAL ACTUATOR SWITCH
An apparatus includes multiple thermal actuator switches configured to control a transfer of thermal energy. The thermal actuator switches are arranged in a stacked configuration. Each switch includes first and second plates and a piston movable between the plates. Each switch also includes a phase change material configured to (i) expand to move a surface of the piston into a first position and (ii) contract to allow the surface of the piston to move into a second position. The surface of the piston thermally contacts the first plate and increases thermal energy transfer between the plates when in one of the first and second positions. The surface of the piston is spaced apart from the first plate and decreases thermal energy transfer between the plates when in another of the first and second positions. Different ones of the switches include different phase change materials that expand or contract at different temperatures.
HVAC condenser coil isolators
In one instance, an isolator for a heating, ventilating, and cooling (HVAC) system is provided that is a formed plastic member that is disposed between dissimilar metals of the bottom of the condenser and a base pan that supports the condenser or between two dissimilar metals of another HVAC heat exchanger. The isolator separates the two dissimilar metals involved from each of those components and also provides gaps or apertures to drain any water that otherwise might become standing water that potentially causes oxidation or increased oxidation. Other aspects are disclosed.
Rotating heat exchanger with improved heat transfer efficiency
The disclosure relates to a heat transfer assembly for a rotary regenerative heat exchanger. The assembly includes a rotor arranged between at least two separated fluid flow passages passing flow axially through the rotor, where each flow passage is connected to a sector part of the rotor. The assembly further includes a plurality of channels in the rotor for flowing a fluid through the rotor, each of the channels is enclosed by heat transfer and heat accumulating surfaces in the rotor, and the heat transfer and heat accumulating surfaces of the channels are made in a material providing an average axial thermal conductivity less than 100 W/mK arranged to reduce the Longitudinal Heat Conductivity of the rotor.
COMPACT HEAT EXCHANGER UNIT FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE PARTICULARLY AND AIR CONDITIONING MODULE
A compact heat exchanger unit within an air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle, and a condenser region for the condensation of refrigerant is formed as a heat exchanging surface, and a high-pressure-refrigerant collector region as a refrigerant collector is formed in the integrated form as a plate packet of a heat exchanger within a plate heat exchanger.
3D PRINTED COLD PLATES AND METHODS FOR COOLING POWER DEVICES EMBEDDED IN 3D PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS
A system and method of forming integrated power electronic packages includes 3D-printing a cold plate having a hollow interior recess and a plurality of fins. The method includes printing, using a 3D printer, an electrical insulation layer and a conductor substrate onto a top surface of the cold plate, such that the electrical insulation layer and conductor substrate are embedded within the top surface of the cold plate. The method further includes embedding power devices in the conductor substrate, printing, using a 3D printer, a circuit board on and around the power devices, and mounting electronic components on the circuit board.
Geothermal well, method of establishing thereof and method for geothermal energy production
A geothermal well is provided including a first tube including at least one opening in a first depth; a second tube having a closed bottom in a second depth; and a third tube having a closed bottom in a third depth. The first tube is inside the second tube, which is inside the third tube, wherein the first tube has at least one opening in fluid communication with a first interspace between the first tube and the second tube; wherein the third depth and the first depth are smaller than the second depth. Through-holes are formed in the second tube above the bottom of the third tube, which allow fluid communication between the first interspace and a second interspace between the second tube and the third tube. A first sealing element and a heat insulating material are disposed in the first interspace above the through-holes.
THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE AND HEAT EXCHANGER
Thermal energy storage and heat exchanger, distinctive in that it comprises: a number of hardened concrete thermal energy storage elements; a housing, into which said elements have been arranged; an active heat transfer and storage medium in the volume between said elements and said housing, in the form of either: a stagnant liquid or phase change material, or a dynamic fluid arranged to flow in the volume between said elements and said housing; at least one means for delivery of thermal energy to the thermal energy storage; at least one means for taking out thermal energy from the thermal energy storage; and thermal insulation.
HEAT EXCHANGER INCLUDING PASSAGEWAYS
A heat exchanger includes a core defining a first passageway and a second passageway. The core includes a plurality of unit cells coupled together. Each unit cell of the plurality of unit cells includes a first wall and a second wall. The second wall is spaced from the first wall. The first wall at least partially defines a first passageway portion and a second passageway portion. The second wall at least partially defines the second passageway portion. The second wall extends about the first wall such that the first passageway portion is nested within the second passageway portion.
