Gun temperature identification system and methods of use thereof
12253321 · 2025-03-18 · ·

The inventive technology comprises a novel thermal indicator system that incorporates one or more thermogenic compounds that may be applied to a gun component and indicate the temperature of a gun component during and after use. This novel thermal indicator system may indicate the temperature at which the gun component will cause burns, is unsafe to store, or if a pre-determined threshold temperature has been reached resulting in a loss of firing accuracy, as well as imminent, or actual component failure.

Electromagnetic muzzle velocity controller and booster for guns
09562736 · 2017-02-07 · ·

Systems and methods for electromagnetically controlling the muzzle velocity of a conventional gun using a coil gun on a barrel extension. This method can also provide an electromagnetically induced increase to muzzle velocity beyond that capable by conventional explosives. With higher muzzle velocity, the weapons will have longer range, higher penetrating power and stand-off distances. A section of coil gun can also be used to center the projectile in the barrel to control the exit trajectory. Using a coil gun to control muzzle velocity and center the projectile can be a retrofit to existing weapons that would greatly increase their down-range accuracy.

Systems and techniques for testing a gun

The present disclosure provides systems and techniques for testing guns by simulating firing a round of live ammunition. A striker may be used to apply force onto a gun, and one or more compressible rods may be used to modulate the application of force onto the gun. A system may include a striking mechanism configured for displacement along an arcuate path of travel that includes a first compressible rod, a second compressible rod coupled with a first component of the gun, an attachment mechanism coupled with a second component of the gun such that the second compressible rod is located in the arcuate path of travel, and a backstop mechanism coupled with the attachment mechanism. The attachment mechanism may stably hold the gun and the backstop mechanism may accommodate planar movement of the attachment mechanism, so as to simulate a shooter holding the gun.

Weapon usage monitoring system having discharge event monitoring directed toward quick change barrel

A system for providing discharge monitoring of a firearm includes an event detection module, an event detection module housing, and a signal processing module. The event detection module has a sensor that senses an acceleration and generates an acceleration signal. The event detection module housing houses the event detection module. The signal processing module receives the acceleration signal and determines whether the acceleration signal is a discharge event and generates an event detection signal based on the determination, the signal processing module is further configured to maintain a shot count of the firearm based on the determination that the event detection signal is a discharge event. The event detection module is coupled to a quick change barrel of the firearm. The event detection module generates the event detection signal specific to the quick change barrel of the firearm; and determines a shot count of the quick change barrel.

Instrumented Ammunition Round

An inert round is provided for data collection in a gun bore. The round includes a hollow annular cartridge, an instrument package, a circular dielectric disk, an annular projectile and a conical nose tip. The cartridge defines an interior volume longitudinally bounded by a fore neck and an aft terminus. The instrument package is disposed into the volume for data transmission. The circular dielectric disk secured at the aft terminus. The projectile includes an ogive forebody and a cylindrical aftbody that inserts into the neck. The nose tip attaches into the forebody.
