The present disclosure provides a selectively securable protective covering for substantially planar surfaces, such as furniture, wall hangings, and outdoor tables. In particular, the disclosure relates to a table cover that is resistant to dislodgement by wind and other forces. The table cover can be attached to a table, such as an outdoor picnic table.

A protective article is disclosed including a sheet with a first surface, and at least one adhesive portion arranged on the first surface. The adhesive is a water-based adhesive, such as a water-based acrylic adhesive, that allows the sheet to be non-permanently adhered to an object.
