A modular tool including a first member and a second member each including a head portion, a shaft portion and a handle portion. The first member includes a first member slot and the second member includes a second member slot. A connector includes fasteners and a pair of locking tabs. Each of the locking tabs includes a pair of locking tab openings. The first member and the second member interlock via the first member slot and the second member slot. The pair of locking tabs are disposed within a pair of locking tab slots and the fasteners run through the pairs of locking tab openings and a pair of member openings, thereby locking the first member to the second member.

In particular, the novel non-propellant personal defense tools of the present invention comprise a combat housing in an innovative combination with a vision impairment light, and sliding forend that creates sound when bidirectionally engaged, for example, as in the cocking of a shotgun. A non-propellant personal defense tool of the present invention is a hefty deterrent and resembles the image and action of a shotgun by an attacker when the vision of the attacker is impaired by the vision impairment light. In specific embodiments, the combat housing is shaped like a bat. Additionally, further embodiments also trigger an alarm or an alarm system.

A self-defense garment assembly is further provided, including a garment for covering at least the body of a wearer having a garment interior surface; a cord retaining guide structure extending substantially within the garment along the garment interior surface; and a pull cord having a cord first end and a cord second end which is slidably retained within the cord retaining guide structure; so that at least a segment of the cord can be pulled out of the garment and used to fight a combat opponent.

A throwing knife. The throwing knife comprises a body having a first end and a second end. A handle is affixed to the first end of the body, and a blade is affixed to the second end of the body. The weight may include a ring slidably disposed along the body, or a ball inserted into a hollow channel within the body adjacent an optional packing material, or may include both types of weights. The body is narrower than both the handle and the blade, such that a ring weight disposed about the body is configured to slide between a forward edge of the handle when held by a user, and a second position wherein the weight contacts a rear edge of the blade when thrown.
