The invention disclosed herein provides a system and a method for a single-use firearm and personal defense system. The system includes a single-use firearm capable of firing a projectile. The single-use firearm capable of firing a projectile comprises a firearm frame, at least a first barrel, a trigger operable to actuate a striking of at least a first ammunition cartridge, and an ammunition locking system, wherein the ammunition locking system permanently locks the at least first ammunition cartridge within the firearm, whereby once locked, the at least a first ammunition cartridge may not be removed or reloaded without permanently damaging the firearm. The system also incorporates internal electronics for, among other things, tracking, notifying, and monitoring the firearm and its users.

The invention provides a barrel flexing mitigation assembly (10), which is suitable for reducing barrel deflection, particularly in long range rifle barrels, such as those used in target shooting, hunting or sniper applications. A firearm having reduced muzzle rise is disclosed. The firearm includes a barrel having a breech end, an opposing muzzle end, and a bore defining a barrel centerline which, when extended in a longitudinal direction, defines a barrel axis. The firearm further includes a magazine tube disposed above the barrel, a receiver defining a lower opening to receive the barrel, and an upper opening to receive the magazine tube. An interchangeable barrel assembly for a firearm including a novel barrel and tool assembly which are used with a receiver having an open aft end. The tool assembly is configured to be inserted into the receiver open aft end so as to engage the aft end of the barrel. Torque applied to the tool assembly thereby transfers torque to the barrel without transferring forces to the action. This enables the same action to be used with different barrels and the barrel may be removed without removing the receiver or other components of the modular chassis or accessories mounted thereon. Additionally, standard torque may be applied to the barrel for connection to the receiver and firearm precision is maintained.

The rifle barrel includes an extension having a ramp for loading the cartridges and having a key way for the shell extractor. The magazine of the rifle is mounted to the lower receiver so as to load the cartridges in a direction perpendicular to the rifle barrel. The magazine follower automatically locks the bolt after the last cartridge is fired. The bolt and bolt carrier are integrally machined, and fully enclose the cartridge to preclude out of battery firing.
