POINTING DEVICES, APPARATUS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR HIGH SHOCK ENVIRONMENTS
20200067266 · 2020-02-27 ·

Devices, apparatus, systems and methods for providing accurate linear and angular positioning with a payload mounted to a beam having freely moveable ends. The payload can be a laser pointer mounted on a firearm, which maintains the initial precise pointing during and after exposure in high G shock and vibration environments. Vertical and lateral adjustment controls can adjust minute changes in beam orientation. Precision adjustments can be performed in a zero G, one G, or high G environment and maintains the adjustment daring and after being exposed to a high G shock or vibration environment.

A flashlight mounting system for mounting a flashlight on a firearm includes a light barrel, which is sized and shaped for containing a flashlight and which is mountable on the firearm, a light activator plug positioned inside the light barrel, a light control member positioned on the outside of the light barrel, and a connector, which extends through a slotted hole in the light barrel and connects the light control member to the light activator plug. Sliding the light control member on the outside of the light barrel moves the light activator plug on the inside of the light barrel to push and activate an on-off switch on the flashlight in the light barrel.

Firearm accessory mounting interface

An accessory mounting interface for a firearm, and a related method, are disclosed. The interface has a firearm accessory, a first elongated fastener, and a second fastener rotationally mated to the first elongated fastener. The first elongated fastener has right-handed threading and is arranged through a through hole in the firearm accessory with a first end extending below first and second halves of a first slot protrusion of the firearm accessory. The second fastener has a length greater than a width, the length measured along a longitudinal axis of the second fastener, the second fastener having a plurality of straight edges. At least one of the plurality of straight edges prevents the second fastener from rotating further than a closed position when the at least one of the straight edges abuts a sidewall of an elongated slot in the firearm.

An optical device 10 comprises an objective lens 11 defining a focal plane FP and an eyepiece 12 spaced apart therefrom, defining an optical axis OA therethrough. The optical device 10 comprises an optical member 13 having a first planar face 14, arranged on the optical axis OA proximal the focal plane FP, wherein the first planar face 14 is arranged to oppose the objective lens 11. The optical device 10 comprises a filter assembly 100 comprising a first notch filter 101 arranged to attenuate transmission of electromagnetic radiation having a first wavelength .sub.1, wherein the first notch filter 101 is arranged in front of the optical member 13. The first notch filter 101 is arranged at a first oblique angle .sub.1 to the optical axis OA whereby, in use, incident electromagnetic radiation having a predetermined wavelength .sub.i propagating along the optical axis is reflected by the first notch filter 101 away therefrom, wherein the first wavelength .sub.1 and the predetermined wavelength .sub.i are different. In this way, retro-reflection of the incident electromagnetic radiation towards a source thereof is reduced, thereby better detection of the optical device 10.

A weapon system includes a weapon, a weapon sight configured to sight a target of the weapon, and an electro-mechanical super-elevation (EMSEL) system. The EMSEL system includes a weapon adapter coupled to the weapon, an electronics mount coupled to the weapon sight, a drive assembly coupled to the weapon adapter and the electronics mount, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine that the weapon is changing in angular orientation. The controller is also configured, in response to the determination that the weapon is changing in angular orientation, to control the drive assembly to adjust an angle of the electronics mount relative to the weapon while the weapon is changing in angular orientation such that the electronics mount remains substantially at a predetermined angle relative to the target.
