AIMING-ASSISTANCE METHOD AND DEVICE FOR LASER GUIDANCE OF A PROJECTILE
20170314891 · 2017-11-02 · ·

A method and a device for assisting aiming at a target, in particular for the purpose of improving the accuracy with which a projectile is guided towards said target by means of a laser beam. The method makes use of a camera serving to capture either a complete image of the environment, or else a selective image of said target in said environment. Thereafter, the method makes it possible to verify that said laser beam is indeed pointing at said target by displaying the point of contact of said laser beam in said environment on the image captured by said camera, and then to determine the accuracy with which said laser beam is indeed pointing at said target. As a function of said accuracy, launching of said projectile may either be confirmed or cancelled. This method also makes it possible to identify the code of said guide beam illuminating said target.

Weapons stores processor panel for aircraft

An aircraft weapons control system including a weapons stores processor panel for receiving input signals from a weapons input; a weapons interface for receiving fire signals from the weapons stores processor panel to control firing of aircraft weapons; and a flight management system in communication with the weapons stores processor panel and the weapons interface, the flight management system providing control signals to the weapons interface; wherein the weapons stores processor panel implements safety interlocks to prevent or enable firing of the aircraft weapons.

System and method for displaying weapon engagement feasibility

Disclosed is a system and method for generating, in an aircraft (1) in flight, a display indicative of the feasibility of a weapon carried on the aircraft (1) successfully engaging a determined target (5, T) and/or the feasibility of a weapon carried on the target (5, T) successfully engaging the aircraft (1). The method comprises: using a performance envelope of the weapon and performance envelope(s) for one or more different types of aircraft (1), determining a further performance envelope specifying the performance of the weapon when carried by any of the different aircraft (1) types; determining coefficients for a generic polynomial that fit the generic polynomial to the further performance envelope; uploading, to the aircraft (1), the generated coefficients; and, on the aircraft (1), reconstructing the further performance envelope and generating the feasibility display.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF MANAGING A PLURALITY OF PROJECTILE MODULES ON A FLYING DEVICE

A flying vehicle is disclosed with a plurality of projectile systems that each contains a projectile for projecting at another flying device. The flying vehicle can include a control system, a flight system in communication with the control system for enabling the flying vehicle to fly, a first projectile system in communication with the control system and a second projectile system in communication with the control system. The control system determines, based on a characteristic of a target flying vehicle, whether to implement a first mode utilizing the first projectile system or a second mode utilizing the second projectile system to capture the target flying vehicle.

Moving object command link system and method

A moving object command link system includes a transmitter which outputs a EM beam and a steering mechanism which directs the beam toward one or more objects, at least one of which is moving. The system may include a variable attenuator which modulates the average output power of the beam, and/or a divergence controller to maintain a desired beam size. The beam may be polarized, and the system may include a polarization modulator which changes the beam's polarization in accordance with a predetermined sequence and schedule. The system may include a 1×2 switch to selectively provide the beam to one of first and second outputs. A tiltable dichroic beam splitter may be used to couple beams received from first and second objects to track cameras having respective boresights that are offset with respect to each other.

Vehicle Based Independent Range System (VBIRS)

A Vehicle Based Independent Range System (VBIRS) (10) comprised of individual stacked chambered modules that function as a single integrated system that provides a self-contained space based range capability, and is comprised of a power module (12), an artificial intelligence/autonomous engagement/flight termination system module (20), a satellite data modem module system (30) and a navigation, communications and control module system (40), all of which interface with a VBIRS test and checkout system (52) and a weather data system (116). The artificial intelligence/autonomous engagement/flight termination system module (20) is comprised of an inherent artificial intelligence capability that envelopes and interchanges data with an autonomous engagement controller (22) that contains all missile/rocket autonomous cooperative engagement, destruct decision software and range safety algorithm parameters required for optimum mission planning. VBIRS employed aboard an aircraft or between any combination of launching systems allows that aircraft to launch a missile/rocket from any location on earth, whether the missile/rocket is singularly launched by itself or as a larger group of missiles/rockets launched in a salvo arrangement, while providing collaborative real-time targeting to occur directly between missiles/rockets in conjunction with other missile/rocket launch platforms or stand-alone mission control centers.

METHOD FOR STEERING A MISSILE TOWARDS A FLYING TARGET
20170268852 · 2017-09-21 ·

A method steers a missile towards a flying target. In order to permit precise flight to the target even under poor visibility conditions owing to the weather, a radar which is remote from the missile detects the target and transmits data relating to a first location area of the target to the missile. The missile determines, from the data of its own missile radar, a second location area of the target, processes both location areas to form a target area and flies to the target area.

OPTICAL COMPONENT MOUNTING FOR HIGH-G APPLICATIONS
20170269325 · 2017-09-21 ·

An optical assembly for high-G application includes an optical element formed from a brittle material. A rigid frame with a channel surrounds the outer diameter region of the optical element. A compliant material fills the space between the rigid frame and the outer diameter region of the optical element to prevent physical contact between the rigid frame and optical element during a high-G event.
