Grain header with swathing and chopping capability
09788486 · 2017-10-17 · ·

A grain header has a frame with a cutter bar affixed to the frame. A sub-frame is pivotably coupled to the frame and a mower cutter bar is coupled to the sub-frame. A swather is coupled to the sub-frame and arranged rearward relative to the mower cutter bar. A deflector is disposed between the cutter bar and the mower cutter bar. The deflector is moveable between a raised position in which the deflector permits crop material cut by the mower cutter bar to pass onto the swather, and a lowered position in which the deflector inhibits crop material cut by the mower cutter bar from passing onto the swather.

Deckplate Auto Adjustment Mechanism for a Harvester Row Unit

A row unit for a header of an agricultural harvester is provided that includes a first longitudinally extending stripping plate and a second longitudinally extending stripping plate each mounted on a frame and each having opposed stripping edges which define a gap between the first stripping plate and the second stripping plate. The row unit includes both operator-selected macro adjustment of the gap and automatic micro adjustment of the gap. The micro adjustment occurs on both deck plates. The micro adjustment is achieved through resilient members positioned functionally between the deck plates and the row unit frame.

Auger and drive assembly for an agricultural harvester header

A header for an agricultural harvester comprising a chassis and an auger having a tube extending in end to end relation with and rotatably supported by the chassis. The header further includes a drive mounted adjacent a mid-portion of the auger and operatively engaged with the mid-portion of the auger for driving rotation thereof. The header thus provides an auger which is driven at its mid-portion, thereby eliminating the hydraulic complexities of augers that are driven at their ends. In addition, when the auger tube is continuous, the mid-portion driven, continuous tube auger eliminates the crop dead spot that typically occurs when split augers are deployed.

Drive mechanism for augers of an agricultural harvester header

A header of an agricultural harvester for the transport of a flow of crop from a header to a combine feeder house. The header includes a frame having a floor, a conveyor assembly, and a drive mechanism. The conveyor assembly is mounted above the floor to urge a flow of crop material during harvesting operations, and the drive mechanism operatively connects to the conveyor assembly to drive movement of the conveyor assembly. The drive mechanism includes a drive motor mounted to the frame beneath the floor about a medial section of the header.

A work vehicle for cutting crops includes a header a supported by a chassis of the work vehicle. The header includes a cutter assembly having a cutter bar frame supporting a series of rotary cutters arranged in a lengthwise direction. A gear train, having a first gear and a second gear, is coupled to the series of rotary cutters to transfer power thereto. A cutter control system includes a first motor coupled to the first gear of the gear train and a second motor coupled to the second gear of the gear train. A controller, including a processor and memory architecture, is operably connected to the first motor and the second motor to control operation thereof. The cutter control system drives the first gear at a first speed via the first motor and drives the second gear at a second speed via the second motor. The second speed is different than the first speed to pre-load the gear train into enmeshing engagement with each other in one rotational direction.
