An environmental conditioning assembly for use in mechanical testing at scales of microns or less. The assembly includes an enclosure housing with an environmental cavity therein. A sample stage is positioned within the environmental cavity and includes an option sample heater. The enclosure housing includes a cavity perimeter clustered around the sample stage, and the enclosure housing isolates the environmental cavity and the sample stage from an environment exterior to the enclosure housing. In an example, an expansion and contraction linkage maintains a sample on the sample stage at a static elevation according to heating or cooling fluctuations within the environmental cavity. A testing instrument access port extends through the enclosure housing into the environmental cavity.

The edge of the circular section of the measurement tool is associated with a part in the stackup of the parts. A location on the part for a center of the hole for the stackup of the parts is identified using the indicator.

A method and apparatus for measuring a subject's ability to perform a varying range of barrier reaches is provided. The apparatus includes a barrier having a substantially horizontal upper surface at a height above a base point. A sensing and recording device is positioned adjacent to the barrier for sensing and recording a plurality of data points. A marking device for grasping by the subject engages the sensing and recording device for creating the plurality of data points as the subject bends forward against the barrier. The data points are recorded and converted into an interpolated arc reflecting the subject's reach at the barrier height.

Disclosed is a measuring device that is adapted for providing conversions from fractions of an inch to decimals of an inch and vice versa. The measuring device includes a ruler having a first edge opposite a second edge. The first edge includes markings for indicating units of measurement in decimals, while the second edge includes markings for indicating units of measurement in fractions. The markings in decimals directly align with corresponding markings in fractions so that the user can determine fraction-decimal equivalents by locating the alignments of the markings. Furthermore, the present invention may be a traditional ruler, a retractable tape measure, a measuring tape, a right angle ruler, or a yard stick, depending upon embodiment.

Controllable caliper

An embodiment of the invention is directed to an electronic caliper which combines positioning and measurement in one unit without the use of hydraulics for subsea use. In certain embodiments, several attachments can be affixed to accommodate a range of measurement tasks. In a preferred embodiment, one jaw is adjustable and the other, or opposing, jaw is fixed to a mounting structure. The jaws typically allow for the removal and replacement of other attachments. In another embodiment, the unit communicates to computer software for position control, precise indication and clamping for adjustment. In a preferred embodiment, computer software displays all feedback via laptop computer on surface. The caliper is maneuvered to a position proximate an object and used to measure a predetermined physical characteristic of the object. The measurement can be displayed using a computer with control software.
