Rod-shaped force transducer with improved deformation behavior

A force transducer for measuring compression and/or tension forces includes a rod-shaped deformation body and at least four strain transducers applied on the deformation body and configured for measuring longitudinal and transverse strains thereof. Front and rear elongate recesses are provided on the front and rear sides of the deformation body in the area of an intersection between a central longitudinal axis and a central transverse axis of the deformation body. Left and right upper indentations and left and right lower indentations are provided on the deformation body respectively at the four quadrants bounded by the axes. A ratio of a cross-section on a center plane extending orthogonally to the central longitudinal axis and including the central transverse axis, to a sum of first and second partial regions of the cross-section, is from 1.56 to 2.15.

Method and computerized measuring system for configuring a system to detect a measured physical variable

A method of using a measuring system for detecting a measured physical variable pertains to measuring systems that include a plurality of transmission members forming a measuring chain for detecting the measured physical variable and in which transmission members that are immediately successive in the measuring chain are in a cause-and-effect relationship to each other. The method includes the steps of: a) specifying the measured physical variable to be detected; b) using a computer to compile several measuring chains that include transmission members necessary for the detection of the specified measured physical variable; c) determination of performance criteria of the compiled measuring chains; d) using the determined performance criteria to assess each of the compiled measuring chains; and e) identification of a measuring chain that best satisfies one of the performance criteria determined.

Damage Resistant Indicator Coating

A pressure vessel for holding fluids includes a tank and a coating disposed on an outer surface of the tank. The tank defines a cavity for holding fluids, and an outer surface of the tank includes a first visual characteristic. The coating includes an indicator layer, an outer layer, and a first intermediate layer. The indicator layer is disposed on the outer surface, the indicator layer including a second visual characteristic that visually contrasts with the first visual characteristic. The outer layer is disposed over the indicator layer, the outer layer including a third visual characteristic that visually contrasts with the second visual characteristic. The first intermediate layer is positioned between the indicator layer and the outer layer, the first intermediate layer being visually transparent or translucent. The disclosure also describes a coating including an indicator layer, an outer layer, and a first intermediate layer.

Methods, systems, and storage media for remote monitoring of a system usable in a subsurface volume of interest are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: obtain system data for the system usable in the subsurface volume of interest; identify multiple alert times specifying multiple time values corresponding to a time interval where the multiple parameter values exceed a threshold range; generate a representation of the subsurface system using visual effects to depict at least a portion of the system data and at least a portion of the multiple alert times; and display the representation.

Measurement instrumentation with a rolling display
09786033 · 2017-10-10 · ·

A method for displaying sensor readings in a measurement instrument having an array of display elements initially divides the range of interest of the sensor reading into a plurality of consecutive sub-ranges and determines a scaling function for displaying sensor readings for each sub-range. For each sensor reading, the appropriate sub-range is determined into which the sensor reading falls (where N is the number of this sub-range). The scaling function for the Nth sub-range is applied to display the sensor reading using N consecutive display elements. Optionally, the system may include a visual or audible indicator for the use when the display rolls from one sub-range to another. The display may also include feature indicating the peak sensor reading encountered.

A lighting and colour scheme for instruments to allow an apparent colour change of indicia and background between daylight viewing and night-time viewing when an instrument light is turned on. White indicia on a red background is conspicuous in daytime, but can be transformed to green indicia on black background when the instrument is illuminated with a green LED for night-time viewing.
