AUTOMATED READER FOR GAUGE-BASED METERS
Mechanical gauges remain a common means to present values of a system or system component to a user. Connecting mechanical gauges to allow for notification messages to be generated, when the value indicated by a needle of the gauge is of particular interest, provides for greater usability. Illuminating a narrow portion of a gauge and utilizing a light detector to determine if the needle is, or is not, reflecting the light emitted, allows for systems to be alerted when the gauge has a particular value. Additionally, the area of interest may be further divided and illuminated by differentiated light to allow the notification to further include the direction from which the needle has entered the area of interest.
All-digital sensing device and implementation method
Devices, systems, and methods provide direct digitization and encoding of a parameter to be sensed or measured. Digitized readings are encoded into binary bits, which are acquired and handled by digital devices. An all-digital sensing device can be implemented in passive, active, or semi-passive forms, and in some embodiments includes a transducer, digitizer/encoder, reader, and transmitter. A transducer converts the parameter to be measured into a digitizable quantity, based on such as mechanical deformation, dielectric properties, or electromagnetic wave or acoustic-wave properties. A piezoelectric material transducer converts stress/pressure into resistance or voltage. A fiber-optic interferometer transducer converts pressure/temperature/PH into irradiation amplitude or wavelength shift in spectrum domain. Encoded binary or quasi-binary states are identified by a reader. Binary states have resolutions arranged according to a 2.sup.N format. Each binary state can be presented in mechanical, electromagnetic, optical, or acoustic forms, or in step or continuous form.
Meter Device and Meter Unit Provided with Meter Device
A meter device includes a rotation shaft, a pointer provided in an end part of the rotation shaft and rotating integrally with the rotation shaft, an illumination light source which outputs visible rays to the pointer, a light source of infrared rays which is arranged in parallel to the illumination light source and outputs the infrared rays to the pointer, and a reflection part provided in the pointer to substantially reflect the visible rays into the pointer and to substantially pass and output the infrared rays from a central part of rotation of the pointer.
IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME AND RECORDING MEDIUM
An apparatus captures an image of a measuring instrument that is captured by an imaging apparatus, sets an area in the image as an edge detection processing target in response to a user operation, and executes edge detection processing on the set area in the image. Further, the image processing apparatus sets a value for correcting a position of a detected edge portion. The image processing apparatus corrects the position of the detected edge portion based on the set value and calculates a value indicated by a pointer of the measuring instrument according to the corrected position of the edge portion.
Meter assembly
A meter assembly for a vehicle instrument panel. The meter assembly includes a reflector case having a plurality of light guides extending from an inner surface of the reflector case. Neighboring ones of the plurality of light guides have different lengths and extend different distances from the inner surface of the reflector case.

UNSEALING INDICATION STRUCTURE OF COUNTERFEIT TAPE
An unsealing indication structure of a counterfeit tape includes: a substrate layer, being a plastic sheet; and an adhesive layer, adhered to the backside of the substrate layer. The adhesive layer is adhered to a sealed object and has a tensile tension smaller than an adhesive force between the adhesive layer and the sealed object, so that when an external force greater than the adhesive force is acted between the adhesive layer and the sealed object, the substrate layer is deformed to produce a wrinkle, and the unsealed counterfeit tape shows a multi-indication status and provides an excellent effect of observability. In addition, no substance or mark of the adhesive remains on the sealed object, and the unsealed counterfeit tape may be adhered to the sealed object again for further use after it is torn and opened, so as to provide a convenient and economic sealing operation.
