Optical temperature measurements in photonic circuits
Temperature measurements of photonic circuit components may be performed optically, exploiting a temperature-dependent spectral property of the photonic device to be monitored itself, or of a separate optical temperature sensor placed in its vicinity. By facilitating measurements of the temperature of the individual photonic devices rather than merely the photonic circuit at large, such optical temperature measurements can provide more accurate temperature information and help improve thermal design.

A method monitors a sensor clock signal in a sensor unit, which is generated and output for a data transfer between the sensor unit and a control unit with a predefined period duration. A reference clock signal having a predefined reference period duration is received. The sensor clock signal is compared to the reference clock signal. Based on the comparison, a deviation of the current period duration of the sensor clock signal from a target period duration is detected. Based on the detected deviation, a counting pulse or a reset pulse is emitted.

The PCB may include a PCB inductor and a PCB capacitor to form an LC circuit. The LC circuit may have an LC circuit frequency. The apparatus may comprise a variable capacitor communicatively coupled to the interface and configured to adjust an effective capacitance of the LC circuit.
Distributed process state and input estimation for heterogeneous active/passive sensor networks
Systems and methods are described for estimating a state of a process and an input to the process using a sensor network. Each sensor node in the sensor network is directly to one or more adjacent sensor nodes and indirectly coupled to the remaining sensor nodes through the one or more adjacent sensor nodes. Each sensor node iteratively calculates a new estimated state based on estimations of the state and the input to the process calculated by the sensor node in a previous iteration. The new estimated state is then adjusted based on a difference between a predicted and actual output of a sensor and is further adjusted based on differences between a previous estimated state calculated by the sensor node and estimated states calculated by adjacent sensor nodes.

Inductive angle sensor with clearance value ascertainment
An inductive angle sensor is provided with a stator with an excitation oscillating circuit and a pickup coil arrangement and also with a rotor which is arranged rotatably with respect to the stator and comprises an inductive target arrangement. The excitation oscillating circuit can be energizable with an alternating current, in order to induce an induction current in the target arrangement, and the target arrangement can be designed to generate a magnetic field in reaction to the induction current, which magnetic field in turn generates induction signals in the pickup coil arrangement. The angle sensor further comprises a circuit that is designed to derive an induction strength signal representing the signal strength of the induction signals from the induction signals and to ascertain the spatial clearance between the rotor and the stator on the basis of the induction strength signal, and to generate a corresponding clearance signal.

An inductive angle sensor is provided with a stator with an excitation oscillating circuit and a pickup coil arrangement and also with a rotor which is arranged rotatably with respect to the stator and comprises an inductive target arrangement. The excitation oscillating circuit can be energizable with an alternating current, in order to induce an induction current in the target arrangement, and the target arrangement can be designed to generate a magnetic field in reaction to the induction current, which magnetic field in turn generates induction signals in the pickup coil arrangement. Identifying anomalous sensors
A sensor system may include first and second sensors configured to be coupled to a vehicle and generate respective first and second sensor signals indicative of operation of the vehicle. The sensor system may also include a sensor anomaly detector including an anomalous sensor model configured to receive the first and second sensor signals and determine that one or more of the first sensor or the second sensor is an anomalous sensor generating inaccurate sensor data. The sensor system may also be configured to identify one or more of the first sensor or the second sensor as the anomalous sensor generating inaccurate sensor data.
