Multimodal sensing of thermal comfort for adaptable climate control
An adaptable climate control method for controlling a thermal climate within a confined space based on thermal and/or physiological features of one or more occupants of the confined space is provided. The method includes receiving thermal images of a plurality of target areas from the occupants, identifying a plurality of interesting points of the received thermal images, and isolating the interesting points to construct thermal maps of the target areas. Thermal features of the occupants are determined using the respective thermal maps and the thermal features are used to construct thermal feature vectors for the occupants. Physiological features from physiological sensors can also be added as elements of the thermal feature vectors to form integrated vectors. The thermal feature vectors and/or integrated vectors are classified using a classifiers and at least a portion of the thermal climate of the confined space is adjusted based on the classification of the vectors.

TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION METHOD FOR EAR THERMOMETER WITH PROBE COVER
A temperature calibration method for an ear thermometer with a probe cover is provided. The temperature calibration method includes: providing the ear thermometer with the probe cover, the ear thermometer including a plurality of activation elements which are configured to sense an infrared transmittance of the probe cover to obtain a measured transmittance value; using the ear thermometer to measure an object to be tested to obtain an uncalibrated temperature; obtaining an infrared radiation energy emitted by the object to be tested, according to the uncalibrated temperature, the measured transmittance value, a preset transmittance value, and a radiation energy measurement formula; and calibrating the uncalibrated temperature to a calibrated temperature, according to a temperature calibration function.
Occupant detection device
An occupant detection device (e.g., sensor) may include an occupant detection circuit (e.g., a radar occupant detection circuit) and a control circuit. The occupant detection circuit may determine the location of an occupant in a space with reference to a global coordinate associated with the detection circuit and the control circuit may transform the location of the occupant into a local coordinate system associated with a region of interest in the space. The control circuit may use the location information to determine whether the occupant has entered or left the region of interest and adjust an occupant count for the region of interest based on the determination. The control circuit may acquire knowledge about the region of interest during a configuration or commissioning procedure.

In one or more embodiments, an apparatus for estimating a temperature is provided and includes a plurality of electromagnetic radiation sources positioned to emit electromagnetic radiation toward a reflection plane, and a plurality of electromagnetic radiation detectors. Each electromagnetic radiation detector is positioned to sample the electromagnetic radiation emitted by a corresponding electromagnetic radiation source of the plurality of electromagnetic radiation sources. The apparatus also includes a pyrometer positioned to receive electromagnetic radiation emitted by plurality of electromagnetic radiation sources and reflected from a substrate disposed at a reflection plane and electromagnetic radiation emitted by the substrate. The apparatus includes a processor configured to estimate a temperature of the substrate based on the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the substrate. Methods of estimating temperature are also provided.
