Methods for detecting sensor faults in a consumer appliance
A method for operating a consumer appliance, as provided herein, may include detecting a preliminary first conversion value from a first sensor input pin electrically connected to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and detecting a preliminary second conversion value from a second sensor input pin electrically connected to the ADC in electrical parallel with the first sensor input pin. The method may further include determining a preliminary variation between the preliminary first and second conversion values is less than or equal to a predetermined preliminary threshold. The method may still further include activating a pull-up resistor in electrical communication with the first sensor input pin, identifying a fault state in response based on a conversion value variation following activating the pull-up resistor, and directing the appliance based on the determined fault state.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR ASSEMBLY FOR INDUCTION COOKTOP
An induction cooking apparatus including a cooktop panel, induction coil, controller, and temperature sensor assembly. A temperature sensor and guiding support are positioned in sliding engagement in an opening in the center of the induction coil where an upper end of the temperature sensor sits above a top surface of the induction coil. The controller includes a first circuit board that supplies electricity to the induction coil. A second circuit board, separate from the first circuit board, is electrically connected to the temperature sensor and includes a cantilevered leaf-spring structure that supports the temperature sensor. The guiding support is a load bearing structure that transmits a biasing force created by deflection of the cantilevered leaf-spring structure to the temperature sensor, which operates to hold the temperature sensor in contact with a lower surface of the cooktop panel.
Method to minimize the temperature drift of optical turbidity sensors
A sensor suitable for optical turbidity measurements is described. The sensor is suitable for use in a water-bearing domestic electrical appliance (e.g. washing machine or dishwasher) and allows the temperature dependence of the turbidity measurements obtained by means of a first light detector to be compensated for. To this end, the sensor implements, in addition to a turbidity-measuring path along which a measuring-light beam is sent through a measuring space containing the turbid medium to a first light detector, a reference measuring path along which a reference light beam is transported to a second light detector which is thermally coupled with the first light detector. A heat-equalizing element can ensure that any temperature differences between the two light detectors are minimized. Both light-measuring paths can run in some regions inside the same solid-material light-conducting structure.
WATER CONSERVING SHOWER SYSTEM AND THERMOCHROMIC FIXTURES USED THEREIN
A water delivery system includes a mixing valve operable for delivering a water flow of adjustable temperature from a water source to a dispensing device downstream from the mixing valve; a thermochromic thermal indicator, fluidly coupled between the mixing valve and the dispensing device, that provides a visible indication of the water flow having achieved a predetermined temperature; and a diverter valve, fluidly coupled between the mixing valve and the dispensing device, and operable to direct the water flow selectively either to the dispensing device or back to the water source. The thermal indicator may be a thermochromic PVC conduit, or it may be a fitting having an inlet, an outlet, a thermochromic PVC element therebetween, and a barrier located between the inlet and the outlet so as to define a flow path that includes an interior surface of the thermochromic element.
Low Cost Container Condition Monitor
Low-cost techniques for sensing ambient temperatures in a container or package using phase change materials are provided. In one aspect, a temperature sensor is provided. The temperature sensor includes: at least one phase change material configured to transition from an amorphous state to a crystalline state upon exposure to temperatures above a predetermined threshold temperature for a given duration. A method of monitoring temperature exposure of a consumer good using the temperature sensor is also provided.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND COOKING APPLIANCE
A temperature sensor includes: a sensor element including a heat-sensitive body configured to contact with a detection object, a pair of lead wires connected with the heat-sensitive body, and connecting wires connected with the lead wires respectively; and a holding element including a fixed body configured such that a position of the fixed body is fixed to an object appliance, and a movable body configured to support the heat-sensitive body of the sensor element and to reciprocate between a first position and a second position relative to the fixed body. Each of the lead wires includes a first core wire formed of a solid wire. Each of the connecting wires includes a second core wire formed of a twisted wire and a second insulating covering that covers the second core wire. A conducting wire constituting the twisted wire has a smaller wire diameter than the solid wire.
DISHWASHER THERMOMETER WITH WIRELESS TEMPERATURE LOGGER AND ASSOCIATED METHODS
A dishwasher thermometer captures temperature data of temperature sensed within a dishwasher during a wash cycle. The dishwasher thermometer includes a wireless communication interface that transmits the captured temperature data to one or more of a server and a monitor device. When the captured temperature data indicates that the wash cycle did not achieve defined temperature threshold(s), an alert is generated at the server and/or the monitor device indicating that the wash cycle did not meet appropriate washing conditions. In embodiments, the temperature data may be accessible to a third party for certification of the dishwasher wash cycle.
Temperature sensor and manufacturing method of temperature sensor
Provided is a temperature sensor allowing a wire, which is an additional element, to be efficiently connected to the temperature sensor. The temperature includes the additional element and a temperature detecting element. The temperature detecting element includes a heat-sensitive body, a sensor element, and a protective tube. The sensor element has a pair of first electric wires which are electrically connected to the heat-sensitive body. The protective tube accommodates the sensor element. The additional element includes a terminal and a second electric wire that is electrically connected to the terminal. The terminal is responsible for electrical connection between the additional element and the protective tube, and for assembly where the additional element is mated with the protective tube. The terminal in the present invention has a passage which allows the first electric wires to pass therethrough.
