A level measurement system configured to measure minute changes in fluid level. The system integrates a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) to provide highly accurate level measurement. Low friction materials and a timed vibrator are used to minimize fluid static friction effects on level measurement. A second LVDT can be utilized to compare the level of a fluid containment structure with level changes caused by environmental factors such as evaporation, tidal effects, wind, or the like. The system also includes a computing device to record and compare level changes over time. A housing connects the elements of the system.

Method for leak testing and reference leak device for leak testing

A method for leak testing includes a leak testing step and a reference leak step. In the leak testing step, a hollow work 20 as a test object is encapsulated in a work capsule 11. A test pressure is supplied to the work capsule 11 through a path 2a connected to the work capsule. A variation of pressure inside the work capsule 11 is detected in a condition in which the path 2a is shut-off, and a judgment is made whether a leakage through the work is generated based on the detected output. In the reference leak step, a reference leak device 30 having a known pinhole 31a is mounted on a work 20′ for reference leakage that is same as the work 20 as the test object. The work 20′ for reference leakage is encapsulated in the work capsule 11. The test pressure is supplied to the work capsule 11 via the path 2a, and a reference leakage is generated in the work 20′ for reference leakage via the reference leak device 30 in a condition in which the path 2a is shut-off. A variation of pressure inside the work capsule 11 accompanying the reference leakage is detected.

DIAGNOSTIC SIGNAL TO ANNUNCIATE PRIMARY SEAL FAILURE IN A LEVEL TRANSMITTER

A method and system for seal failure annunciation comprises a process connector connected to a probe used to measure a product level in a tank. A pulse generation module generates a pulse that is propagated through a voided space in the process connector and a detector module configured to receive the echo curve from the interrogation pulse. A logic module is used to evaluate the received echo curve to determine if a seal in the process connector has failed. When the logic module indicates seal failure, an alarm module initiates an alarm indicating said seal in said process connector has failed.

A robust pipeline leak detection system allows the operator to take timely corrective action to the problem, minimizing leakage of the fluids contained in the pipeline to the environment. The wireless sensor network system disclosed in this invention detects the presence of a leak by various sensors including acoustic sensors distributed along a pipeline system. The sensors are connected to the wireless sensor network. An advantage of this system is that it is possible to deploy the leak detection system on existing buried pipelines without significant excavation.

The disclosed apparatus also includes a processor to select a portion of the spectral recording data based on the temperature data, where the processor is to generate a data packet based on the portion, and a transceiver to transmit the data packet.

A pipeline inspection apparatus includes a main body. A sealing structure attached to the main body seals against an internal surface of the pipeline. An imaging module includes a camera and a light source. The light source is arranged to emit light in a direction towards the internal surface of the pipeline. The camera is arranged such that, in use, the camera captures image data of the internal surface of the pipeline. Control circuitry includes a power supply and memory for storing data captured by said camera, wherein the sealing structure forms a seal against the internal surface of the pipeline such that, in use, a fluid flowing along the pipeline applies a driving force to the pipeline inspection apparatus to propel the apparatus along the pipeline.

An early leak-detection warning system is disclosed, including an early leak-detection device having a processor operably configured to execute instructions for monitoring a reservoir for a potential undetected leak. The early leak-detection device determines a rate of water loss for the reservoir; determines an expected rate of water loss for the reservoir based on at least one predetermined factor; and compares the rate of water loss to the expected rate of water loss. In response to the rate of water loss exceeding the expected rate of water loss by a predetermined threshold, the system determines that there may be a leak associated with the reservoir.
