An apparatus for performing such a method is also provided. A method of estimating damage in an aircraft structure and a method of estimating the remaining operational life of an aircraft structure are also provided.
Magneto-optical system for guided wave inspection and monitoring
The present application describes a magneto-optical based guided waves system for inspection and monitoring of assets. The system has a magnetostrictive-based wave emitter for signal generation and a network of optical fiber sensors for detection, both mechanically coupled to the asset, a device with embedded software for hardware control and signal processing, and a framework capable of providing visual and analytic insights about the condition of the structure of interest. The enhancement of flaw detection, location and characterization abilities of the system are obtained through the use of high sensitivity and passive fiber optics sensors with very small size, distributed and multi-parameter sensing capabilities.
Blade flap measurement process
A rotorcraft comprising a rotor blade designed to flap about a hinge point, a measurement system designed to measure blade flapping, and a processing system designed to alter blade flapping measurements. The processing system further comprises a correction process to alter a blade flapping measurement dependent on rotor RPM or rotor torque.
VIBRATION DETECTION DEVICE, VIBRATION DETECTION METHOD, AND ABNORMALITY DETERMINATION SYSTEM
A vibration detection device includes an A/D conversion unit for receiving a sine wave signal of an AE wave corresponding to vibration generated in a target machine from an AE sensor that detects the AE wave and converting the received sine wave signal into digital data, an extraction unit for extracting, from the digital data, a data point of a local maximum value for each cycle of the sine wave signal, and an output processing unit for outputting the data point extracted by the extraction unit and cycle data including data points with the number of points which can be recognized as a sine wave and including the data point of a local maximum value so that an output unit visibly outputs the data point and the cycle data.
System and method for monitoring settling of a building
A system and method for monitoring conditions in a crawl space is provided. The system generally comprises at least one sensor, computing device, data aggregator operably connected to the at least one sensor, processor operably connected to the computing device, power supply, and non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the processor and having instructions stored thereon. The system is designed to collect condition data via the at least one sensor and determine whether the conditions within the crawl space could have a detrimental impact on the building. In particular, the system is designed to monitor settling of a building over time and alert a user if the settling exceeds a predefined threshold.
Continuous fiber optic functionality monitoring and self-diagnostic reporting system
Disclosed herein is a system, apparatus and method directed to detecting damage to an optical fiber of a medical device. The optical fiber includes one or more core fibers each including a plurality of sensors configured to (i) reflect a light signal based on received incident light, and (ii) alter the reflected light signal for use in determining a physical state of the multi-core optical fiber. The system also includes a console having non-transitory computer-readable medium storing logic that, when executed, causes operations of providing a broadband incident light signal to the multi-core optical fiber, receiving reflected light signals, receiving reflected light signals of different spectral widths of the broadband incident light by one or more of the plurality of sensors, identifying at least one unexpected spectral width or a lack of an expected spectral width, and determining the damage has occurred to the optical fiber based on the identification.
A METHOD OF ESTIMATING DISPLACEMENT OF A BRIDGE AND AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE TO ESTIMATE DISPLACEMENT OF A BRIDGE
In a method of estimating displacement of a bridge, a first displacement including a low frequency component and a first high frequency component is generated based on a strain that is measured by a plurality of pairs of strain gauges installed at positions in a first direction from a reference point, in a bridge, a second displacement including a second high frequency component is generated based on an acceleration that is measured by an accelerometer installed at a first position spaced apart from the reference point by a first distance in the first direction, in the bridge, and a final displacement of the bride is generated based on an unknown parameter associated with the displacement, the low frequency component and the second high frequency component. The unknown parameter is generated by applying a recursive least square algorithm to the first high frequency component and the second high frequency component.
A SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR MONITORING MATERIAL FATIGUE
A system for monitoring fatigue of a mechanical structure includes a memory storing response values each associated with one of predetermined stress ranges and one of predetermined mean stresses. Each response value expresses an upper limit for number of cycles of stress at a predetermined observation point of the mechanical structure in a situation where the cycles have the stress range and the mean stress related to the response value. The system includes processing equipment for updating, for each response value, a stress history value expressing number of cycles occurred in a time-trend of the stress and having the stress range and the mean stress related to the response value. A fatigue damage sum is updated based on the response values and the stress history values. The fatigue damage sum expresses cumulated fatigue damage of the mechanical structure and can be used for real-time fatigue monitoring.
