Method Of Extended Thermodynamic Turbine Mapping Via Compressor Inlet Throttling
A method for extending thermodynamic turbine mapping of a turbocharger, the turbocharger including a turbine and a compressor, the method including the steps of providing a steady-state turbocharger gas test stand configured to flow continuous gas to the turbocharger, the test stand including a throttle device disposed upstream of an inlet of the compressor of the turbocharger, and varying an area of the inlet with the throttle device to change density of the continuously flowing gas at the inlet of the compressor and establish a choked-flow condition for extending the thermodynamic turbine mapping of the turbocharger.
Tire traveling test device
A tire traveling test device has a belt that horizontally spans between two drums and a load support device that supports a flat surface of the belt from a lower surface side of the belt. The load support device is provided with a liquid supply means that supplies support liquid between the load support device and the belt and supports the belt from below. The liquid supply means is provided with a plurality of supply holes from which support liquid can be discharged between the load support device and the belt. Additionally, the liquid supply means can adjust the flow rate of the support liquid discharged from the supply holes on the basis of the fluid pressure, which changes according to the tire contact state.
Method of determining fuel injector opening degree
A method is disclosed to determine the opening degree of injectors in cylinders of a combustion engine, where the combustion engine has at least three cylinders. The injectors are connected to a fuel accumulator in a common rail fuel injection system; the fuel supply to the fuel accumulator is interrupted; and subsequently a test injection of fuel is carried out into at least two and, at most, all but for one cylinder at a time, in different combinations, at such a time that the injection does not cause any combustion in the cylinders. The pressure decreases caused in connection with the different test injections are measured, and the pressure decrease that is attributable to at least one specific injector is calculated based thereupon, which is, in turn, used in the determination of the injector's opening degree.
System for sensing particulate matter
Methods and systems are provided for sensing particulate matter in an exhaust system of a vehicle. An example system comprises a particulate matter sensor inside a tube configured to receive a portion of exhaust gas in an exhaust passage.
System and method to predict calibration values based on existing calibrations
A system to predict calibration values for a vehicle. The system is configured to receive a plurality of training data sets for a component of the vehicle. Each of the plurality of training data sets includes one or more training inputs and one or more corresponding training outputs. The system is further configured to automatically develop a prediction model based on the plurality of training data sets. The system is further configured to receive an input data set and determine, using the prediction model, a predicted calibration value based on the input data set. The system is further configured to transmit the predicted calibration value to an electronic control unit of the vehicle.
Flame monitoring of a gas turbine combustor using a characteristic spectral pattern from a dynamic pressure sensor in the combustor
The state of a flame in a gas turbine engine combustor is acoustically monitored using a dynamic pressure sensor within the combustor. A spectral pattern of a dynamic pressure sensor output signal from the sensor is compared with a characteristic frequency pattern that includes information about an acoustic pattern of the flame and information about acoustic signal canceling due to reflections within the combustor. The spectral pattern may also be compared with a characteristic frequency pattern including information about a flame-out condition in the combustor.
METHOD FOR MONITORING COMBUSTON PROCESSES IN A COMBUSTION ENGINE
A method for extracting characterizing features from an ion current trace retrieved from spark plugs of cylinders of an internal combustion engine, comprises the steps of: i. dividing the ion current signal into crank angle subintervals; ii. calculating a measure of ion current in each crank angle subinterval; and iii. Performing a calculation on the measure of ion currents from different subintervals such that the result of the calculation is dimension free. Further it relates to a method of monitoring combustion processes where a plurality of ion current signals from a number of spark plugs (4A, 4B) are retrieved and used in combination.
System and method for estimating engine oil health
A system includes a sensor that may measure one or more engine oil parameters to assess engine oil health of an engine and a processor communicatively coupled to the sensor and that may receive a signal from the sensor. The signal is representative of a real-time measurement of the one or more engine oil parameters. The processor may also estimate the one or more engine oil parameters over time via an adaptive predictive model associated with the one or more engine oil parameters to generate estimated data and reconcile the real-time measurement and the estimated data to generate an integrated engine oil degradation model and predict engine oil remaining useful life based on the integrated engine oil degradation model and one or more condemn limits associated with the one or more engine oil parameters.
