PERCEPTION SIMULATION FOR IMPROVED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE CONTROL
A system and method for real world autonomous vehicle perception simulation are disclosed. A particular embodiment includes: configuring a sensor noise modeling module to produce simulated sensor errors or noise data with a configured degree, extent, and timing of simulated sensor errors or noise based on a set of modifiable parameters; using the simulated sensor errors or noise data to generate simulated perception data by simulating errors related to constraints of one or more of a plurality of sensors, and by simulating noise in data provided by a sensor processing module corresponding to one or more of the plurality of sensors; and providing the simulated perception data to a motion planning system for the autonomous vehicle.

Method and apparatus for vehicle inspection and safety system calibration using projected images
A vehicle service system and method to determine spatial parameters of a vehicle, employing a display system under processor control, to display or project visible indicia onto surfaces in proximity to a vehicle undergoing a safety system service or inspection identifying one or more locations, relative to the determined vehicle centerline or thrust line, at which a calibration fixture, optical target, or simulated test drive imagery is visible for observation by a sensor onboard the vehicle.
Thermal isolation of flight recorder memory core
Various systems may benefit from appropriate thermal protection. For example, various flight recorder systems may benefit from thermal isolation of a flight recorder memory core. A system can include a memory core of a flight recorder. The system can also include an inner chamber housing the memory core. The system can further include an outer chamber housing the inner chamber with a vacuum between the inner chamber and the outer chamber. The system can additionally include a signal path from avionics equipment to the memory core through the outer chamber and the inner chamber. The system can also include a power path for the memory core through the outer chamber and the inner chamber.
Control device of dynamometer system
A control device of a dynamometer system is provided with: a driving force observer which estimates a generated driving force of a vehicle; an electrical inertia control unit which uses the driving force to generate a front wheel basic torque command signal and a rear wheel basic torque command signal; a synchronization control unit which generates a synchronization control torque command signal with respect to the basic torque command signal and the basic torque command signal in such a way as to eliminate a speed difference; and torque command signal generating units which use the synchronization control torque command signal to adjust the basic torque command signal and the basic torque command signal. The synchronization control unit is defined in such a way that the poles of a denominator polynomial of a transfer function from the driving force to the speed difference are all negative real numbers.
Vehicle inspection system and method for evaluating vehicle inspection and service information
A vehicle inspection system for acquiring measurements of at least one vehicle moving through an inspection lane is in communication with a remote data processing and storage system to aggregate data from multiple vehicles passing through the inspection lane, and optionally, from multiple inspection lanes. The remote data processing and storage system is configured with suitable software instructions to store the received vehicle inspection data, as well as vehicle service data received from vehicle service equipment, and to generate reports and/or respond to data queries using the stored vehicle inspection and vehicle service data.

Method of controlling a vehicle to adjust perception system energy usage
A method of controlling a vehicle includes determining a current operating situation of the vehicle, and identifying a subset of a plurality of sensors of the vehicle needed to provide data to enable a vehicle control function for the current operating situation of the vehicle. A remainder of the plurality of sensors is disengaged to reduce electric energy usage by the vehicle while the vehicle is operating in the current operating situation of the vehicle. A sampling rate for the selected subset of sensors may be reduced to further reduce energy usage of the vehicle. Additionally, an energy reduction processing strategy may be implemented to reduce a processor frequency or a voltage of a computing device used to provide the vehicle control function to further reduce energy usage of the vehicle.
