A method for performing maintenance on an engine includes: providing an engine maintenance system including a database system having a database and a database management device: providing a first performance parameter stored in the database and characterizes an engine performance before an engine maintenance procedure; providing a maintenance parameter stored in the database and characterizes a scope of a maintenance measure performed on an engine during an engine maintenance procedure; providing a second performance parameter stored in the database and characterizes the engine performance after the engine maintenance procedure; determining, using the database management device, a functional relationship between the maintenance parameter and the contribution of the maintenance parameter to a difference between the first performance parameter and the second performance parameter; outputting the functional relationship via the engine maintenance system; and performing maintenance on the engine taking the functional relationship into account.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TESTING THE FUNCTIONALITY OF AN ELECTRONIC FLIGHT BAG
A method for testing the functionality of an electronic flight bag (EFB) has been developed. First a communication link is established between the EFB and a central maintenance computer (CMC). Next, a power loss presence test is initiated for the EFB. This test determines if critical applications of the EFB are recovered during a restart after a power loss. If the EFB fails the test, a failure message is transmitted to the CMC. Next, a communication bus test is initiated for the EFB. The communication bus test determines if adequate communication links exist between the EFB and a data source for critical applications. If the EFB fails the test, a failure message is transmitted to the CMC.

The method can include obtaining measurements from a plurality of sensors positioned on the vehicle, obtaining a measurement from a vehicle accelerometer operative to determine an inclination of the vehicle, determining a position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining a slung load of the load suspended from the vehicle, using the determined slung load and the determined position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining tipping moments acting on the vehicle, determining righting moments acting on the vehicle and determining a tipping stability based on the determined tipping moments and determined righting moments.
