A method for facilitating communication for diagnosis of automotive repair issues includes retrieving diagnostic data from a first processor in a first vehicle using a first diagnostic tool, and transmitting the diagnostic data to a server with a request for assistance from a first user who operates the first diagnostic tool. The server identifies a second user who has received diagnostic data from a second processor in a second vehicle with a second diagnostic tool that corresponds to the diagnostic data retrieved by the first processor in the first vehicle, and the server transmits a communication notification to an electronic communication device that is associated with the second user to establish a communication channel between the first user and second user regarding the vehicle issue.

The present teachings generally provide for an overrunable test vehicle for dynamic vehicle testing of advanced driver assistant systems along a driving plane. The overrunable test vehicle comprising a chassis with a first end and a second end and including a mounting area configured to receive a soft target, and defining an axis of rotation transverse to the driving plane between the first end and the second end, four drive mechanisms coupled with the chassis, each drive mechanism having an electric motor with a drive wheel, and a control system coupled with the electric motors, and configured to control speed and torque of each of the electric motors, forming a torque vector that rotates the overrunable test vehicle about the axis of rotation to a target rotation angle. The axis of rotation is a location between the two drive mechanisms that the chassis turns about when the torque vector is applied to the chassis of the overrunable test vehicle.

A vehicle service tool (VST) with a display can receive vehicle data messages or signals from a vehicle to receive the VDP. Some of the VDP can be associated with a PID. The VST can display VDP thresholds and indicators when a received VDP has breached a VDP threshold. The VST can determine being changed from a landscape orientation to a portrait orientation or vice versa and responsively change the presentation of VDP graphs displayed by the display. The display can receive various inputs such as a drag-and-drop or pinch-and-expand input to alternatively change the presentation of the VDP graphs being displayed. Changing a VDP presentation of graphs can include resizing or repositioning one or more VDP graph windows including a VDP graph.

The subject apparatus and corresponding system will be capable of universally integrating into thousands of aircraft globally regardless of type, model or series: an affordable alternative method of streaming critical flight data parameters in near real-time. This service will benefit maintenance providers, airports, aircraft lessors, airlines, airline operations centers, and government agencies such as the FAA, NTSB, and NWS, etc. The subject system, method and apparatus will not replace current aircraft flight data recorder systems, but rather integrate into them and enhance their capabilities while reducing the costs industry-wide.

An example method for outputting a PID filter list (PFL) includes: receiving RO data from one or more ROs that indicate particular vehicle identifying information (PVII), at least one symptom identifier, and a particular vehicle component; determining, symptom-to-parameter-identifier (PID) mapping data (MD) based on the received RO data and component-to-PID MD; determining, based on the set of available PIDs for the SOV and the symptom-to-PID MD, a PFL, wherein the PFL is associated with the PVII and the at least one symptom identifier, and wherein the PFL indicates a symptom-based subset of PIDs from the set of available PIDs for the SOV; receiving, a request sent over a communication network from a display device, wherein the request comprises the PVII and the at least one symptom identifier; and transmitting, over the communication network to the display device, a response to the request, the response comprising the PFL.
