Automated magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant defect detection system

A system and method to inspect flaws associated with a part. The system includes a first image capturing device configured to capture a first set of images of the part and a computer operably associated with first image capturing device and configured to receive and analyze the first set of images. The method includes treating the part with a magnetic particle and fluorescent penetrant processing, capturing a first set of images of an outer surface of the part with the first image capturing device, and identifying a part defect with an algorithm associated with the computer.

Water-temperature-sensor backup system

Water-temperature sensors for detection of temperature of cooling water 12 having passed through an engine 1 are increased in number into two (18 and 19). A controller 20 is provided to confirm that each of detection values of the water-temperature sensors 18 and 19 is within a normal range and then employ either of the detection values as temperature of the cooling water 12. The controller 20 is configured such that, when either of the detection values of the water-temperature sensors 18 and 19 is out of the normal range, the remaining detection value within the normal range is employed as temperature of the cooling water 12.

Wear-monitoring of a gearbox in a power station
09915585 · 2018-03-13 · ·

The invention relates to a method of monitoring a wear of a gearbox in a power station, such as a windmill, water-wheel or tidal power station, the gearbox comprising at least two shafts, cogwheels and bearings as components of the gearbox. The method comprises sensing an angular position at the shafts by a rotational shaft encoder and monitoring the wear of the transmission-unit according to differences of the sensed angular positions and generating a condition signal representative of the wear of the gearbox according to the monitored differences. The monitoring comprises an additional sensing of at least one additional degree of freedom, in particular an axial and/or eccentric displacement, of at least one of the shafts caused by wear of at least one of the components of the gearbox, and generating the condition signal according to the displacement and differences in the at least two degrees of freedom.

Aircraft requirements presentation system, device, and method

A system, device, and method for presenting aircraft requirements are disclosed. The aircraft requirements presentation system could include a source of maintenance data; an aircraft system(s); an input device; a processing unit (PU); and a display unit. The PU may be configured to acquire maintenance data; identify one or more schedule maintenance actions due at the present time; generate command data to a disable specific functionality of the aircraft system(s); provide the command data to the aircraft system(s); generate an image data set representative of one or more page images, whereon each page there may be image of at least one maintenance strip indicating a maintenance action and at least one a count for the maintenance action; and present the image(s) on the display unit. In some embodiments, a maintenance strip could include a graphical user interface through which a pilot may enable the disabled functionality.

Vehicle diagnostic system and method

A vehicle diagnostic system for a vehicle including an electronic control unit (ECU) and an associated diagnostic port includes a dongle, an imaging device, and a single wireless device. The dongle is configured to mate with the diagnostic port to enable the dongle to establish a wired communication link with the ECU. The imaging device is configured to generate imaging data. The single wireless device includes a display unit, an input unit, a memory storing program instructions, and a processor. The processor is configured to execute the program instructions to establish a wireless communication link with the ECU via the dongle, to receive diagnostic data from the ECU, to render the received diagnostic data on the display unit, to receive user input data from the input unit based on the rendered diagnostic data, and to transmit the user input data to the ECU.

Method and system for comparing automatically determined crash information to historical collision data to detect fraud

To detect a risk of insurance fraud in a vehicle insurance claim for physical injuries, injury data may be retrieved from previous crashes involving similar type vehicles as the damaged vehicle, and having similar crash characteristics. A likelihood that the claimant suffered physical injuries from the crash may be determined based on the percentage of people who suffered similar injuries according to the injury data. If the likelihood is very small, the claim for physical injuries may be flagged as a risk of fraud.

Computer-assisted and/or enabled systems, methods, techniques, services and user interfaces for conducting motor vehicle and other inspections
09904908 · 2018-02-27 · ·

A computer-assisted inspection system including an integrated software suite provides vehicle inspection services for various clients. Features include automatic grading, flat car part picking, easy to use, ability to run in an environment where the inspector has no constant connectivity to the network (no guaranteed access to the internet, full data replication, intermittent connectivity, synch back up), inspectors can be geographically separated (e.g., all over the country), and the system is installable over the internet to provide efficient installation to far-flung install sites.
