A device installation system for providing a tool for use by installers to assist in obtaining vehicle specific information such as wiring diagrams, technical information and direct access to technical support technicians. The system further provide for testing, trouble shooting and configuration of installed vehicle devices.

System and method for testing and evaluating vehicle components

A vehicle includes a set of devises for determining a state of the vehicle at an instant of time and a processor operatively connected to a memory for processing parameters of the state of the vehicle collected over a plurality of instances of time for a period of time from an initial instance of time till a current instant of time to determine a set of driving conditions leading to a current state of the vehicle at the current instant of time. Each driving condition indicates a condition of an operation of the vehicle for the period of time. The vehicle also includes a communication module for outputting the current state of the vehicle determined by the set of devices at the current instant of time and for outputting the set of driving conditions leading to the current state of the vehicle.

Methods and systems for displaying vehicle data parameters with a uniform cursor movement

Methods and system pertaining to displaying vehicle data parameters (VDP) are described. A vehicle service tool (VST) with a display can receive vehicle data messages or signals from a vehicle to receive the VDP. Some of the VDP can be associated with a PID. The VST can display VDP thresholds and indicators when a received VDP has breached a VDP threshold. The VST can determine being changed from a landscape orientation to a portrait orientation or vice versa and responsively change the presentation of VDP graphs displayed by the display. The display can receive various inputs such as a drag-and-drop or pinch-and-expand input to alternatively change the presentation of the VDP graphs being displayed. Changing a VDP presentation of graphs can include resizing or repositioning one or more VDP graph windows including a VDP graph.

Integrated grade and pitch estimation using a three-axis inertial-measuring device

A system for use at a vehicle to estimate vehicle pitch angle and road grade angle, in real time and generally simultaneously. The system includes a sensor configured to measure vehicle pitch rate, a processor, and a computer-readable medium. The medium includes computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising estimating, using an observer and the vehicle pitch rate measured by the sensor, an estimated vehicle pitch rate. The operations further comprise estimating, using an observer and the measured vehicle pitch rate, the vehicle pitch angle, and estimating, based on the estimated vehicle pitch rate and the vehicle pitch angle estimated, the road grade angle.

A control device for an automatic transmission, with a torque converter including a lock-up clutch, includes a learning unit configured to learn an engagement holding pressure, which is a hydraulic pressure immediately before the lock-up clutch is released, during coasting, and a determination unit configured to determine during learning in the learning unit whether or not an ON-failure in which the lock-up clutch is held in an engaged state in response to a release instruction has occurred.

FAULT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM

The fault diagnostic system includes a sensor which is provided in each of a plurality of diagnosis target devices and detects diagnosis target information of the corresponding diagnosis target device, and a diagnosis unit which is provided for one or a plurality of diagnosis target devices and determines whether or not abnormality occurs in the corresponding diagnosis target device based on the diagnosis target information detected by the sensor. The diagnosis unit outputs an abnormality determination result to the outside, and when a specific condition is established, outputs diagnosis target information detected by the sensor after the specific condition is established.

Two dimensional pedestrian impact sensing

A vehicle system includes a sensor that outputs an impact signal and a processing device that is programmed to calculate an acceleration envelope from the impact signal, determine a number of times the impact signal crosses a predetermined threshold, and determine whether the impact signal represents a pedestrian impact. Whether the impact is a pedestrian impact is based at least in part on the acceleration envelope and the number of times the impact signal crosses the predetermined threshold.

Integrated bank and roll estimation using a three-axis inertial-measuring device

A system, for use at a vehicle to estimate vehicle roll angle and road bank angle, in real time and generally simultaneously. The system includes a sensor configured to measure vehicle roll rate, a processor; and a computer-readable medium. The medium includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising estimating, using an observer and the vehicle roll rate measured by the sensor, a vehicle roll rate. The operations also include estimating, using an observer and a measured vehicle roll rate, the vehicle roll angle, and estimating, based on the vehicle roll rate estimated and the vehicle roll angle estimated, the road bank angle.
