Bosses can extend from the receiver unit for support on the surface to assist in operation of the press. An attachable paddle can be used to collect extruded material and to scrape it from the grate.

The brewing machine includes a mesh filter disposed inside the container and configured to receive a food article, a blade assembly disposed inside the mesh filter and configured to fragment the food article to produce a liquid, and a vacuum assembly fluidically coupled to the container and configured to remove the liquid from the container. During brewing operation, the mesh filter is configured to capture the fragmented food article, and the vacuum assembly is configured to suction the liquid produced from the fragmentation of the food article.

By inserting the plant matter before the strainer, the plant matter is trapped between the strainer and the bottle wall, making it visible from the outside if the bottle is clear. The strainer prevents the plant matter from being ingested by the user.
