Method And Apparatus For Synchronizing Multiple Magnetic Tracking Systems
20190257672 · 2019-08-22 ·

A method and apparatus is disclosed for allowing a magnetic tracking system to detect, and operate in close proximity in the same physical environment with, additional magnetic tracking systems. The first user's magnetic tracking system that becomes active in the physical space becomes the master system, and assigns time slots for its own transmitting antennas to generate the magnetic field which is used to determine the position and orientation of the user's limbs relative to the user's head. The master system also determines when other magnetic tracking systems become active in the physical space and assigns to those systems identification codes and time slots for their transmitting antennas to generate a magnetic field so that the position and orientation of the user's hands relative to the user's head for each of those systems may be determined. By requiring each magnetic tracking system to operate in different time slots, there is no interference between the systems.

Real-time multifocal displays with gaze-contingent rendering and optimization

Systems and methods for displaying an image across a plurality of displays are described herein. Pixel intensity values in the multifocal display are determined using correlation values and numerical iterations. An eye tracking system measures eye tracking information about a position of a user's eye, and the pixel intensity values are modified based on the eye tracking information. An image is displayed on the plurality of displays based on the determined pixel intensity values. The plurality of displays may be within an HMD, and address vergence accommodation conflict by simulating retinal defocus blur.

A slew gear drive including a housing having a tubular portion having a longitudinal axis, a shaft formed with a worm gear configured for rotational movement about the longitudinal axis within the tubular portion of the housing, and a torque tube having an outer surface, the torque tube carried by the housing for rotational movement about a rotational axis perpendicular to the worm gear, wherein an inner race coupled to the torque tube including a gear having teeth configured to engage the worm gear, the teeth extending less than a 360 degrees around the inner race. Rotation of the worm gear about the longitudinal axis engaging the teeth of the inner race, thereby rotating the inner race the torque tube about the rotational axis relative to the housing.

A locating method, a locator, and a locating system for head-mounted display (HMD) are proposed. The method includes the following steps. A locator is provided and disposed on the HMD, where the locator includes an image capturing device and a communication interface, and the locator is connected to the HMD via the communication interface. An image of a reference object is captured by the locator through the image capturing device in an operating space to generate a first reference object image. A relative position of the HMD and the reference object is calculated by the locator according to the first reference object image so as to obtain locating information of the HMD in the operating space, and the locating information is transmitted to the HMD by the locator.

Broadly, this disclosure discloses various computing technologies that include a processor in communication with an imaging device and with an illumination device. The processor receives a set of imaging data from the imaging device such that the processor is able to identify an object within the set of imaging data and determine a set of coordinates. The processor then sends the set of coordinates to the illumination device such that the illumination device can output an illumination based on the set of coordinates.

Camera for locating hidden objects

A distance substantially between a camera and an object is measured preferably with a rangefinder. Positional coordinates including an altitude of the camera are determined. A pose including pitch and azimuth of the camera directed at the object is determined from sensors. Positional coordinates of the object are determined using at least the positional coordinates of the camera, the pose of the camera and the distance substantially between the camera and the object which are used to determine a location volume. A database is searched for objects located at least partially inside the location volume. The camera is part of a computing device with a screen. Search results are listed on the screen and an outline of a hidden object in the location volume is drawn on the screen.

A system, method, and computer program product are provided for adjusting focus based on focus target information. In use, an image is sampled as image data, using a camera module. Next, the image data is processed by identifying one or more regions. Further, the one or more regions is tracked using the camera module. Additionally, a focus associated with the one or more regions is determined, based on the tracking, and the focus associated with the one or more regions is updated. Additional systems, methods, and computer program products are also presented.
