Biodosimetry panels and methods
The present invention relates to methods and kits to assess an absorbed dose of ionizing radiation and/or the severity of tissue injury from radiation in a patient. The invention also relates to algorithms used to calculate an absorbed dose of radiation based on biomarker measurements of a plurality of biomarkers that are altered relative to a normal control in the event of radiation exposure.

Micro-Structured Crystalline Radiation Detectors
In one aspect, a radiation detector is disclosed, which includes a substrate having a plurality of microcapillary channels, and a crystalline scintillator material disposed in said channels so as to generate a plurality of independent radiation sensing elements associated with each channel for detecting incident radiation and generating an optical radiation in response to the detection of the incident radiation. In some embodiments, the incident radiation can include any of alpha (α), beta (β), gamma (γ), X-ray and neutrons.
Muon detector array stations
Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for inspecting materials in a vehicle or object. In one aspect, a system for muon tomography detection includes a first and second housing structure each including a first array and second array of muon detection sensors, respectively, the first housing structure positioned opposite the second at a fixed height to form a detection region to contain a target object, in which the muon detection sensors measure positions and directions of muons passing through the first array to the detection region and passing from the detection region through the second array; support structures to position the first housing structure at the fixed height; and a processing unit to receive data from the muon detection sensors and analyze scattering behaviors of the muons in materials of the target object to obtain a tomographic profile or spatial distribution of scattering centers within the detection region.
RADIATION IMAGE PROCESSING DEVICE, METHOD, AND PROGRAM
When performing processing for eliminating scattered radiation included in radiation transmitted through a subject on a radiation image captured by irradiating the subject with radiation, an imaging condition acquisition unit acquires imaging conditions, and a distance information acquisition unit acquires distance information representing the distance between the subject and a radiation detector. A scattered radiation information acquisition unit acquires scattered radiation component information representing a scattered radiation component of radiation included in the radiation image based on at least the imaging conditions, and a correction unit corrects the scattered radiation component information based on the distance information. A scattered radiation elimination unit performs scattered radiation elimination processing of the radiation image based on the corrected scattered radiation component information.
X-RAY DETECTOR WITH CORRECTION UNIT
An X-ray detector includes a detection unit to convert X-rays into a signal value and an evaluation unit. The detection unit and the evaluation unit are configured in a common component, the extent of the component along a first direction being not greater than the extent of the detection unit. The evaluation unit includes at least one correction unit to correct the signal values, a computation unit to control the correction, and a memory unit to store at least one correction parameter. The evaluation unit is designed such that the signal values are corrected as a function of the at least one correction parameter. A method and detector group are also disclosed.
RADIATION SHIELDING APPARATUSES AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
Apparatuses (devices, systems) and methods for shielding (protecting) surroundings around periphery of regions of interest located inside objects (e.g., patients) from radiation emitted by X-ray systems towards the objects. Apparatus includes: at least one radiation shield assembly including a support base connectable to an X-ray system radiation source or detector, and a plurality of radiation shield segments sequentially positioned relative to the support base, thereby forming a contiguous radiopaque screen configured for spanning around the region of interest periphery with a radiopaque screen edge opposing the object. Radiation shield segments are individually, actively controllable to extend or contract to selected lengths with respective free ends in directions away from or towards the support base(s), for locally changing contour of the radiopaque screen edge. Applicable for shielding (protecting) medical personnel, and patients, from exposure to X-ray radiation during medical interventions or/and diagnostics.
