OPTICAL PROBE AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME AND IN-SITU MEASUREMENTS OF SOIL PROPERTIES
There are provided an optical probe and method for analysing a soil located in an underground area. The optical probe includes a probe head insertable into the underground area to contact the soil, the probe head including a waveguide having opposite first and second ends both optically shielded from the soil; a light source configured to generate a multiwavelength interrogating beam and optically coupled to the first end of the waveguide so that the multiwavelength interrogation beam is inputted in the waveguide to propagate towards the second end; and a detector optically coupled to the second end of the waveguide to detect said multiwavelength interrogation beam. The waveguide includes an unshielded interaction zone extending between the first and second ends providing a wavelength-dependent attenuation of the multiwavelength interrogation beam through interaction with the soil.
UTILIZING RESISTIVITY DATA FOR MULTIPLE VIEW PERSPECTIVES FOR GEO-STEERING
The disclosure presents processes that utilize collected resistivity data, for example, from an ultra-deep resistivity tool located downhole a borehole. In some aspects, each slice of resistivity data can generate multiple distribution curves that can be overlaid offset resistivity logs. In some aspects, an analysis can be performed to identify trends in the distribution curves that can be used to identify approximate locations of subterranean formation surfaces, shoulder beds, obstacles, proximate boreholes, and other borehole and geological characteristics. As the number of distribution curves generated increase, the confidence in the analysis also increases. In some aspects, the number of distribution curves can be twenty, one hundred, one hundred and one, or other counts of distribution curves. In some aspects, the resistivity data can be used to generate two or more synchronized view perspectives of a specific location along the borehole, where each view perspective uses the same focus area.

Systems and methods for generating a curtain plot that includes two inverted parameters based on the formation boundaries and the formation resistivity, the uncertainties of the formation boundaries, and the uncertainties of the drilled well-path, generating an updated curtain plot that includes two projected inverted parameters based on updated formation boundaries and updated formation resistivity, the projected uncertainties of the updated formation boundaries, and the projected uncertainties of the planned well-path, and avoiding, by the drilling operations, the uncertainties of the formation boundaries of the curtain plot and the updated curtain plot based on the two inverted parameters and the two projected inverted parameters to maintain or adjust the planned well-path within the projected uncertainties of the planned well-path.
Integrating geoscience data to predict formation properties
A method includes receiving well log data for a plurality of wells. A flag is generated based at least partially on the well log data. The wells are sorted into groups based at least partially on the well log data, the flag, or both. A model is built for each of the wells based at least partially on the well log data, the flag, and the groups.

Method of and apparatus for determining component weight and/or volume fractions of subterranean rock
Component weight and/or volume fractions of subterranean rock are determined. A formation model generates mineral and fluid concentration data from which elemental concentrations are calculated. Forward modeling produces a simulated energy spectrum, and simulation produces a simulated constraining log. Spectra is generated by detecting gamma radiation with a neutron logging tool, and a constraining log is generated. The spectrum and the simulated energy spectrum are compared with resultant error determined. The constraining log and simulated constraining log are compared with resultant error determined. The formation model generates further mineral and fluid concentration to calculate further elemental concentrations. Forward modeling produces further simulated energy spectrum signal and further constraining logs. The spectrum signals and further simulated spectrum signal are compared with resultant error determined. The constraining log and further simulated constraining log are compared, and resultant error is determined. The mineral and fluid concentration are selected that result in minimal error.
Logging tool ferrites and methods of manufacture
A method of fabricating a ferrite for use in a resistivity logging tool includes providing an uncured ferrite material, and pressing the uncured ferrite material into a channel to form the ferrite. The channel is defined on a surface of a bobbin associated with the resistivity logging tool, and the channel can be arcuate and extend at an angle offset from a central axis of the bobbin. The uncured ferrite material is then cured in place within the channels on the bobbin.
Systematic integration via an intrusion detection device
A vehicle theft-prevention apparatus can include at least one computing device couple to a plurality of sensors and a wireless transceiver. The plurality of sensors can be configured to sense measurements proximate to a vehicle. The at least one computing device can be configured to read a plurality of first measurements of a first sensor of the plurality of sensors. Based on the plurality of first measurements from the first sensor, the at least one computing device can determine that a key fob moved outside of a range of the first sensor. In response to the key fob moving outside of the range of the first sensor, the at least one computing device can transition to an armed state. The at least one computing device can read a plurality of second measurements from a subset of the plurality of sensors. Based on the plurality of second measurements, the at least one computing device can determine that a person has entered the vehicle.
