Provided is a head-mounted display apparatus including a frame extending in a first direction, a display unit configured to emit image light in a second direction intersecting the first direction, a casing attached to one end, in the first direction, of the frame and housing a part of the display unit, and a temple portion arranged on a center side of the head-mounted display device, in the first direction, with respect to the casing. The casing includes a side surface positioned on a side on which the temple portion is arranged, and a first recessed portion, in the side surface, opening in the second direction to form a first gap with the temple portion that is arranged along the side surface.

Eyewear with detection system

Eyewear having monitoring capability, such as for radiation or motion, is disclosed. Radiation, such as ultraviolet (UV) radiation, infrared (IR) radiation or light, can be measured by a detector. The measured radiation can then be used in providing radiation-related information to a user of the eyewear. Motion can be measure by a detector, and the measured motion can be used to determine whether the eyewear is being worn.

Eyewear lens coupling system

An eyewear lens coupling system and methods can be used during assembly of an eyewear. The system and methods may advantageously decrease optical distortion of the lens during assembly and use and/or may also advantageously increase retention of the lens to the eyewear frame to improve the overall quality of the eyewear.

EYEWEAR COMPRISING A VARIABLE OPTICAL FILTER SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR THE SYSTEM AND EYEWEAR

An eyewear, including a first receptacle and a second receptacle; a first lens element received in the first receptacle; and a light sensor configured to detect incident light and provide a sensor signal based on the detected incident light. The eyewear further includes an analysis module. The analysis module is operably coupled to the light sensor to receive the sensor signal from the light sensor, and operably coupled to the variable optical filter structure to provide a control signal to the variable optical filter structure. The analysis module is configured to control the optical state of the variable optical filter structure thereby adjusting an illuminance ratio of light transmitted by the first lens element to light transmitted at a position of the second receptacle. Further provided is a method for adjusting a variable optical filter system for an eyewear, and a method and computer program for controlling the eyewear.

Method for covering a primary element for optical spectacles with primary members moulded from cork particles

A method for purifying powdered silicon carbide is in the form of a starting material to form a silicon carbide having a purity of at least 99.9%. This method has the following method steps: providing a starting material having a grain size of less than 100 μm and a silicon carbide content with at least 98% purity; and heating the starting material in a vacuum or oxygen-free atmosphere to a temperature above 1700° C. over a period of at least 8 minutes.

Lens for eyewear and other headworn supports having improved optics

A lens is provided that has an improved optical configuration in order to provide enhanced off-axis optical performance by tending to reduce, eliminate, or minimize first order optical distortion. Embodiments may be used in non-corrective or corrective unitary or dual lens eyewear, for example in combination with a frame to support the lens in a path of a straight ahead line of sight forming a center axis of an eye of a typical wearer. The lens may comprise a lens body. The lens body may comprise a surface having a spheric, toric, cylindrical or freeform geometry and another surface having a freeform geometry. A lens thickness is defined between the surfaces. A prismatic power of the lens is improved, particularly for off-axis viewing angles.

Eyeglasses And Case Magnetically Attachable To Handheld Mobile Device

A system for magnetically mounting a pair of eyeglasses to a handheld mobile device, wherein the pair of eyeglasses has lenses, lens rims in which the lenses are supported, and a bridge connecting the lens rims, wherein at least one of the lens rims comprises a material attracted by a magnetic field, a handheld mobile device having a magnet that produces a magnetic field, wherein at least one of the lens rims is configured to coincide with the magnet of the handheld mobile device such that the lens rim is magnetically attachable to the handheld mobile device. Alternatively, an eyeglass case is magnetically mounted to the handheld mobile device.

Enhanced armless spectacles

This invention refers to armless spectacles made from a sheet of material that includes at least a second folding line in stabilisation means. The invention proposes several methods of ensuring the second line and offering even greater rigidity. The spectacles can be converted from a non-functional state into a functional assembled state suitable for use by manipulating the configuration of at least one stabilising means in the bridge area. The spectacles have an enhanced rigidity thus increasing the overall stability of the spectacles during use. They can be presented basically flat for storage or transport and be easily manipulated to achieve the configuration for use. The spectacles may further present enhanced fastening and handling means that increase fastening stability as well as easy placement and removal of the spectacles on and from the nose, which further enhances reliability during use.

HEAD-MOUNTABLE DEVICE WITH CONNECTABLE ACCESSORIES

Head-mountable devices can include connection mechanisms that provide adjustable and exchangeable connections with other devices to enhance performance of the head-mountable device. Such connections can provide both mechanical engagement and operable communication between the connected devices. Accessory devices and/or external devices can be easily connected to provide different components and functions at different times as desired. Accordingly, a main portion of the head-mountable device need not include permanent components that provide every function that will later be desired by the user. Instead, the head-mountable device can have expanded and customizable capabilities by the use of one or more accessory devices.

Electronic Devices With Frame Antennas

A head-mounted device such as a pair of glasses may have display systems. The display systems may present images to eye boxes for viewing by a user. The glasses may have clear lenses through which real-world objects may be viewed from the eye boxes. The glasses may have a metal frame that surrounds the lenses and may have temples that are coupled to the frame using hinges. Radio-frequency transceiver circuitry such as cellular telephone transceiver circuitry may be coupled to one or more antennas in the head-mounted device. The antennas may have antenna resonating elements formed by placing dielectric-filled gaps in the metal frame to divide the frame into segments. Antenna resonating elements formed from segments of the metal frame may be coupled to the radio-frequency transceiver circuitry using transmission lines.
