Ocular optical system

An ocular optical system including an eyewear device and a tunable light attenuator is provided. The tunable light attenuator is disposed on a light path which the eyewear device is disposed on and includes a plurality of cholesteric liquid crystal layers, a plurality of electrode layers, and a controller. Each of the cholesteric liquid crystal layers is disposed between two of the electrode layers. The controller is electrically connected to the electrode layers and configured to adjust voltages applied to the electrode layers so as to operate the cholesteric liquid crystal layers in at least two steps of light attenuation for randomly polarized light with at least one of a blue band and an ultraviolet band.

A head-mounted device may have a display that displays computer-generated content for a user. The head-mounted device may have an optical system that directs the computer-generated image towards eye boxes for viewing by a user. The optical system may be a see-through optical system that allows the user to view a real-world object through the optical system while receiving the computer-generated image or the optical system may include a non-removable lens and a removable vision correction lens through which an opaque display is viewable. The optical system may include a removable lens. The removable lens may serve as a custom vision correction lens to correct for a user's vision defects. The optical system may have a projection bias lens that places computer-generated content at one or more desired virtual image distances and a corresponding compensation bias lens.

Magnification devices with filtering and method for selection of said filters

A method for determining filtering capabilities of a magnification device suitable for providing protection from light when viewed through the magnification device is disclosed. The filtering capability of the magnification device is determined based at least one of an input power of the inputted light signal, a magnification level of the magnification device and an orientation of the filtering within the magnification device. Further disclosed is an lighting system that generates a light, which when reflected into the magnification device is prevent from causing damage to a user's eyes based on the selection of the filtering system disclosed herein.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MEASURING RETINA SAFETY IMPROVEMENT INDEX
20210172865 · 2021-06-10 ·

Disclosures of the present invention describe a device for measuring retina safety improvement index, comprising: a light receiving unit, a first data processing unit and a second data processing unit. The light receiving unit receives a first visible light and a second visible light that is obtained by letting the first visible light pass through a blue light blocking product. The first data processing unit calculates a first maximum permissible exposure (MPE) of the first visible light and a second MPE of the second visible light. The second data processing unit calculates a retina safety improvement (RSI) index based on the first MPE and the second MPE. As such, by using this device, a consumer is facilitated to know how much eyes-protecting ability does a specific blue light blocking product have, without needing to read any numeric value of blue light filtering percentage and/or unfamiliar spectrogram.

EYEWEAR WITH INTEGRALLY FORMED BARRIER

Eyewear, such as a goggle, includes a movable unitary lens and a chassis. The movable unitary lens includes an interior surface. The chassis includes a body that defines a central opening, and the body is configured to be worn on the face of a wearer. The chassis further includes a barrier that is integrally formed with the body, and the barrier includes an exterior surface that contacts the interior surface of the lens along a perimeter of the lens so as to form a seal with the lens.

Macular degeneration stick-on-eyeglass filters to reduce glare and distortion

People with (AMD) Adult Macular Degeneration have great difficulty seeing, because their damaged retina sees double vision and distortion. The vision loss is a deterioration of light sensing cells of the retina. Direct or reflecting sunlight and headlights cause extreme glaring and distortion. There are magnifying binocular-fitted eyeglasses for precise detail, and an eye patch, which entirely blocks out all vision, which puts strain and pressure on the dominant eye. Not much is offered to block bright glare, distorted images and double vision associated with AMD. This invention enables adults and children with AMD to self-apply a stick-on eyeglass multi-colored filter UV protectant disc, placed only in front of the affected eye's pupil, on the front of the eyeglass lens. An eye patch blocks all vision completely. However, this invention is an improvement, by which the user chooses optional translucent or solid multi colored, self-applied color filter discs, having different elective properties, which blocks only the affected retina from bright sun, reflections, headlight glare, double vision and distortion, without affecting the users peripheral (side view) vision.

A pair of glasses with functions of positioning and reminding is revealed. The glasses include a frame, a first temple and a second temple pivotally connected to two sides of the frame. The first and the second temples include inner surfaces facing each other and outer surfaces opposite to the inner surfaces. A magnetic member is mounted on the outer surface while a striking-and-reminding gel-like member is integrally wrapped on the inner surface by injection. An upper edge and a lower edge of the striking-and-reminding gel-like member are respectively extending to form an upper segment and a lower segment which are respectively wrapped on the top surface and the bottom surface. Thereby the glasses can be attached to equipment made of iron at a workplace by the magnetic member and users can find them easily and quickly due to the striking-and-reminding gel-like member.
